Duncan Aviation aircraft engine specialist job description
1. With minimal supervision, disassembles, repairs, recovers and reassembles seats. Prepares miscellaneous seat parts and accessories for paint. Performs basic troubleshooting of seat assemblies.
2. With minimal supervision, selects and shapes foam to contours and specifications prescribed on the blueprints and per customer approved design center conceptual drawings. Performs minor modifications to seats and accessories.
3. With minimal supervision, prepares seats for upholstering by stripping all foam and covers using various hand tools according to Duncan Aviation approved procedures. Cleans glue off panels and strips materials from parts.
4. With minimal supervision, sews, modifies and installs seat covers, curtains and miscellaneous items using sewing machine, glue gun and other hand tools.
5. With minimal supervision, designs seat patterns according to customer and designer specifications.
6. Assists with training team members to develop job knowledge and improve performance.
7. With immediate supervision prepares, researches, and signs off various documents for record keeping purposes as required by Duncan approved procedures, manufacturers' maintenance manuals, and FAA regulations( i.e. turnovers, removal sheets, flammability testing, W.O. Sheets and other work order related documents supporting the squawks and expected hours).
8. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management.
Job Specific Requirements
- Licenses/Certificates: Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified
- Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required
- Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs., occasionally 100 lbs.; reads small print; hearing sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates working in confined spaces; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
- Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments

Education and Experience
Upholstery Specialist I:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Minimum one year aviation interior upholstery experience or two years related experience required
Upholstery Specialist II:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Minimum two years upholstery experience required
- Minimum two years aviation interior upholstery preferred
Upholstery Specialist III:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred
- Minimum four years experience in upholstery required
