Job SummaryProvides engineering support for base and heavy maintenance for assigned area of responsibility. Provides engineering support for repairs, parts and material substitutions and alterations. Evaluates manufacturer's maintenance documents for applicability to the AMC fleet. Produces engineering documents to execute alterations and repairs as required. Works with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Designated Engineering Representative (DER) for approval of major repairs and modifications and for conformity and compliance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) as required.Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following: • Review Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins for applicability to Air Methods' (AMC's) fleet: develop Engineering Orders to accomplish modifications in response to ADs, Service Bulletins, SILs, etc.• Conduct research and data collection to aid in the development of Fleet Campaign Directives, Engineering authorizations, Engineering Orders, engineering Specifications, and other engineering documents• Provide engineering support for base and 145 maintenance to include minor repair authorizations, parts and materials substitutions, repairs, and reports• Provide support in maintaining configuration control• Respond to requests for engineering assistance to obtain or develop approved engineering data when that data is not in the Manufacturers manual, Structural Repair Manual (SRM), or other FAA approved documents• Interact with applicable departments to define, maintain and optimize the AMC Approved Aircraft Inspection Program (AAIP) and other maintenance program items• Analyze and determine disposition of all reliability issues and improvements• Evaluate and determine disposition of Beyond Economic Repair (BER) parts• Other duties as assigned Additional Job Requirements• Regular scheduled attendance• Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling: <1%Subject to applicable laws and Air Method's policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position. **_Key Responsibilities:_**

Provide engineering support for a wide range of aircraft systems, maintenance programs, engines as well as operational engineering functions. Must be able to understand, analyze and seek solutions to the design, operation, maintenance, performance or repair of aircraft and their components. Should be able to logically approach problem solving, define an aircraft maintenance program or configurations and ensure a safe and legal operation.

As a United Engineer you will also evaluate the benefits of the cost impact of a fleet decision to ensure a balance of cost, assets utilization. You will be responsible for working with both internal and external customers on technical issues, work scope recommendations and failure investigations. You could work in a variety of engineering departments based on current needs.

+ Review Service Bulletins (SBs) from airframe manufacture or component manufacture for effectivity to United Fleet

+ Develops solutions and implementation plans, project justification, cost/benefit analysis, and overall management of project implementation which can include obtaining FAA approvals and coordinate warranty recovery on SBs that are applicable

+ Organize and manage the priorities for assigned responsibilities and accomplish the work process to meet all deliverable for projects both on line and base aircraft as well as maintenance program changes and technical specification revisions

+ Coordinate work with other operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, operational reliability and operational efficiency

**_What's needed to succeed (Requirements):_**

+ B.S. Degree in Engineering, related technical field or equivalent experience

+ Entry level to 5 years of engineering experience

+ Engineering skill sets which can be applied to a range of aircraft systems, maintenance programs and engines. For service engineering positions, these same technical skills are applied towards operational issues versus project specific work

+ Ability to analyze complex technical issues,detailed level of project management for regulatory compliance modifications

+ Excellent verbal and technical writing skills needed

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

+ Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

+ Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

As an Aircraft Avionics Engineer for UPS Airlines, you will develop engineering solutions that support implementation of safety, reliability and airworthiness policies and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

+ Aircraft Modifications and Maintenance:

+ Avionics Engineers for UPS Airlines have opportunities to design repair schemes for wiring, components, and other electrical aspects. You will utilize your analytical skills and electrical aptitude while working directly with our maintenance team and vendors.

+ You will manage, track, and implement certification approvals from beginning to end. This will include obtaining proper funding to accomplish assigned projects.

+ You will develop solutions to reduce cost. Examples include alternate repairs, material approvals and technological improvements.

+ Reviewing FAA and International Regulations for applicability to UPS:

+ For all applicable regulations, you will act as project manager and obtain funding to accomplish the requirements. You will also create technical work instructions for accomplishment within required timelines in order to maintain airworthiness compliance.

+ Reliability project development and implementation:

+ Review and analyze aircraft data to determine areas where aircraft reliability can be improved via aircraft and component modifications, maintenance procedural changes or other actions required.

**Required Skills:**

+ Bachelor's Degree - Electrical, Aerospace, or other equivalent engineering degree.

+ Minimum of one (1) year of technical experience.

+ Ability to work different shifts, which can include nights and weekends when required.

+ Legally Authorized to permanently work in the United States on a full-time basis.

+ Will not require sponsorship in order to maintain employment visa status.

+ Engineer Level I: Meet the Required Skills as listed.

+ Engineer Level II: Meet the Required Skills as listed and have a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive and relevant experience.

**Preferred Skills** :

+ Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally.

+ Proficiency in technical analysis and working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations or certification requirements.

+ Prior Airline or Maintenance Repair Overhaul Facility experience.

**Interpersonal Skills:**

Must have a positive attitude and the ability to work well with other team members. Must be able to demonstrate clear verbal and written communication skills. Must have strong mechanical aptitude, be able to multi-task, and have a hands-on approach to projects.
