ESSENTIAL DUTIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Supervises Mechanics in overall maintenance operation, including performing preventive maintenance, repair, modifications and other maintenance of aircraft, components and related equipment in compliance with 14 CFR, manufactures specifications, the GMM, Company policy and procedures as well as other methods accepted by the FAA and OSHA. Performs duties in all areas inside and outside the hangar as well as at the airport terminal. Plans and priorities work, which includes prioritizing, directing, laying out and coordinating activities so as to minimize delays, increase production and efficiency, and to assure timely delivery of aircraft. Determines job standards, tests personnel productivity, safety habits and workmanship. Understands, communicates and enforces company policies and procedures. Recommends changes to GMM to eliminate conflicts and/or enhance operational effectiveness. Reviews and approves material requests. Ensures adherence to material handling and control procedures as outlined in the GMM and by the equipment manufacturers. Coordinates with Materials team to ensure required materials arrive as needed. Oversees the completion of shift turnover reports in accordance with the GMM. Conducts shift meetings, briefings and participates in management meetings, including shift turnover. Adheres to established work schedule. Ensures the maintenance area is maintained in a clean and orderly condition. Provides timely and accurate information on aircraft status. Communicates accurately to Maintenance Control the status of aircraft serviceability and readiness. Trains and assists mechanics in proper procedures, methods and practices to be followed in each respective duty. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of the OJT program. Guides the mechanics in the handling and operation of shop equipment, ground equipment, vehicles, fuel dispensing equipment and tools to assure equipment is used safely and kept in serviceable condition. Ensures all departmental internal company forms, maintenance records documents, work orders, manual revision compliance, etc. is completed accurately. Monitors and updates timekeeping and payroll entry on a timely basis. Recommends changes to processes to improve efficiencies and reduce costs. Provides technical leadership to team and department members. Leads through example; Monitors, influences and trains others. Provides input to supervisor on performance reviews and helps to identify development needs. Provides performance feedback, counseling and takes corrective action as necessary. May conduct performance review for assigned mechanics. Performs other duties as assigned or required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE. High school diploma or equivalent with an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. Two years A&P experience on similar aircraft. PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 4 years of A&P mechanic experience on similar aircraft. Previous lead or supervisory experience. RII qualification of applicable aircraft Run and Taxi qualification on applicable aircraft. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Possess a stable employment history. Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record. Must possess the required tools. Must be able to communicate in an effective, calm and professional manner at all times. Possess general computer and administrative skills. REGULATORY Able to pass an FAA required 10-year work history review and pass criminal background and fingerprint checks. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Work in outdoor weather conditions within an open-air hangar up to 100% of the time. The work environment can be very loud. Able to wear a respirator and protective equipment for testing and regular duties. This includes minimal facial hair in order to ensure proper fit in of respirator in accordance with OSHA regulations. Able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays to support 24-hour operations. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Able to travel up to 20% of the time, including overnight stays. Job Description Line Mechanic D: What You'll Do: * Assist with the assembly, installation, maintenance, removal and competently inspect underground facilities, conductors, fixtures, structures and other associated equipment on de-energized and grounded overhead and underground facilities under direct or immediate supervision. * Demonstrate the ability to competently perform ground person duties under immediate or direct supervision as skill level dictates. * Assist with loading, unloading, handling, maintaining, installing and removing poles, towers and structures. * After completion of D-100, or equivalent experience, the employee must demonstrate the ability to operate Company equipment (with exception of digger/derricks and aerial lift vehicles), climb poles, ladders and structures, and work on de-energized conductors and equipment. * Also, may work on conductors and equipment energized up to 260 volts under direct supervision. Assist with work on conductors and equipment energized at secondary voltages to 600 volts under immediate supervision of higher classification. * After completion of C100, or equivalent experience, test, de-energize and ground URD cable, Splice and terminate URD cable, and troubleshoot, repair and energize URD cable and equipment under immediate or general supervision as skill level dictates. * After completion of C-200, or equivalent experience, shall be capable of working on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under general supervision. Use volt meters, amp meters, ground meggers, continuity testers and other electrical test equipment associated with line work on voltages up to 600 volts. * After completion of C-200, or equivalent experience, may cover up stationary tied in (cannot transfer) primary conductors and equipment under direct supervision as skill level dictates. * After completion of C-300, or equivalent experience, may cover up, transfer or move primary conductors and equipment under direct supervision as skill level dictates. * After completion of C-400, or equivalent experience, perform the same duties as outlined in the B classification during the first TWELVE MONTHS. (Wording from LMB description - During the first twelve months in this classification (LMB) assist with work on energized lines, cables and equipment. * During this time frame, the employee should progress from direct supervision to immediate supervision as skill level dictates. * Also, shall be capable of replacing fuses and operate switching and sectionalizing devices energized at any voltage when working under general supervision.). * Build and erect equipment mountings (such as regulator and transformer platforms) and build overhead transformer installations. * Conduct proper tagging procedures while performing switching of energized circuits * Perform inspection and trouble-shooting of lines. * Perform similar or less skilled work as assigned. * Direct the work of employees assigned to assist. * Complete Monthly Apprentice Cards and submit to local supervision for review. What We're Looking For: Line Mechanic C: Education: * High school diploma or GED Experience: * Minimum of one year distribution electrical power line work experience, * OR one year of related line experience defined as: successful completion of a one-year electrical power line school certificate plus a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience, * or an Associate degree from an electrical power line school which includes a minimum of 16 weeks internship or distribution electrical power line experience. * Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of Line Mechanic D or the equivalent and shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company. * Must have the ability and desire to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of the key job (Line Mechanic A) in this family and be qualified through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company. * Must acquire within such time frame as determined by the Company, the qualifications necessary to perform the duties of the next higher classification in the line of progression or vacate the current job classification. * A physical abilities assessment is also required for this position.
