Travel Possible Job Summary: The Aircraft Worker is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on aircraft, including troubleshooting malfunctions in various systems such as the structure, landing gear, engines, auxiliary power units, and ventilation. The role involves the daily operation of the flight line, wash rack, hangar, and other areas requiring customer and contract support. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Assist in pre-flight, post-flight, and troubleshooting of aircraft systems. * Remove, clean, replace defective parts, accessories, and components such as gaskets, actuators, accumulators, gauges and fuel lines. * Perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections. * Make adjustments to cables, seats, and other components. * Inspect and repair or replace malfunctioning or damaged parts, including engine components. * Keep maintenance records for all work performed, ensuring proper documentation of repairs and services. * Supervise and assist with aircraft jacking, towing, and wash activities. * Participate in safety programs and comply with all safety protocols. * Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (HAZMAT). * Maintain clean and safe work areas, participate in the FOD program. * Comply with all M1 and US Navy instructions and safety requirements. * Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed in OOMA or similar to OOMA systems ensuring compliance with 4790 and safety standards. Job Description:
This role is responsible for installing and modifying structural aircraft components and composite parts, ensuring precise fit and adhering to strict tolerances.
Your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Installing detail parts such as shims, splices, gussets, angles, brackets, doublers, and patches.
Modifying major structural components (ribs, stiffeners, longerons, straps, skins) and composite assemblies using shop aids.
Applying expert knowledge of bonding practices, procedures, and layouts to achieve exact fits, especially where critical surface contours, edge distances, or coordinated dimensions and tolerances to 0.005” must be maintained.
Completing all bonding operations with ingenuity to determine the most efficient fabrication and assembly methods.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and structure repair manuals, including understanding symbols, flags, and general notes.
Identifying aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders.
Using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and standard scales.
Demonstrating extensive and recent experience with tools including drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.
Being familiar with a variety of aircraft materials, including aluminum, steel, titanium, plastic, and advanced composites.
Verifying application and condition of installed Low Observable (LO) materials for conformity to specifications, determining material and time required for repairs, and making corrections or reinstallations as needed.
Setting up and operating various types of material testers and mixers.
Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required to safely perform job tasks.
Must be willing to provide temporary support to our other CFT locations at MCAS Beaufort, MCAS Cherry Point, and NAS Lemoore should the need arise.

**AircraftMechanic 1** will perform daily Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to comply with requirements of aircraft performing mission requirements. AircraftMechanic 1 may also be tasked with flight schedule and daily operation of flight line. **Essential Responsibilities:**
Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as blades and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills.
Reads and interprets manufacturers and maintenance manuals, OPNAV 4790, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Performs 200-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines reciprocating engines for cracked turbine blades and oil leaks, inspects turbine engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.
Inspects engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, to locate source of malfunction.
**Work involves:**
Replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as generators, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or crane, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
**Job duties require that this mechanic:**
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing gearbox, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, checking brakes and corrosion prevention of aircraft.
Supervise and participate in the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of all work performed including safety of flight items and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.

+ Housekeeping of all areas of work including shop; participate in FOD program.
+ Obtain Collateral Duty Inspector qualification as well as Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative qualification as a rated Powerplant (AD).
+ Comply with all safety requirements.

+ May need to participate and qualify in Fuel Surveillance program as well as Confined Space Program.
+ May be required to qualify as a Plane Captain.

**Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:**

The HVAC/Refrigeration System Mechanic 1 performs skilled level work but not at the journey-level required to maintain HVAC/Refrigeration systems and equipment. Under the guidance of the HVAC/Refrigeration System Mechanic 2, diagnose, repairs and replaces electrical and mechanical components and controls to maintain peak operating efficiency and reduce energy consumption; performs preventative and predictive maintenance inspections and adjustments to maximize equipment system life-cycle.

The HVAC/Refrigeration System Mechanic 1 performs skilled level work but not at the journey-level required to maintain HVAC/Refrigeration systems and equipment. Under the guidance of the HVAC/Refrigeration System Mechanic 2, diagnose, repairs and replaces electrical and mechanical components and controls to maintain peak operating efficiency and reduce energy consumption; performs preventative and predictive maintenance inspections and adjustments to maximize equipment system life-cycle.
Further, this position was developed to better serve the University by providing additional opportunity to staffs that have demonstrated an interest and aptitude in the field of work; but typically for those individuals who have not yet achieved journey-level status.

This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:
Blade/Pylon Fold, Power Plants and related Sub-Systems, Fuel and Air Systems, Rotor Systems, and related Sub-systems
Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
AircraftMechanic I shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.
Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
Task Requirements:
Process Visual Information Display System/Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAF) from aircrew or maintenance technicians in accordance with OPNAVINST 4790.2 Series, Navy, and Company Instructions.
Performs all other required duties as applicable and assigned by supervision.
Performs aircraft organizational level maintenance functions on H-1 aircraft.
Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned H-1 aircraft
Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation
Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned readiness posture outlined in in the activities plan and daily flight schedule
Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, pneumatic, hydraulic, ventilation and heating, flight surfaces and controls, dynamic components, and powerplant systems.
Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment.
Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight control.
Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry
Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections
General aircraft maintenance
Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
Perform other tasks as directed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years rotary wing maintenance experience
Previously certified Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for Line and/or Power Plants
Completed NATEC Course Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS)
Basic Corrosion Control
Previously certified Hydraulic Contamination
Previously certified H-1 Plane Captain
Basic Qualifications:
Two or more years' rotary aircraft maintenance experience
Must achieve Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) AH-1Z & UH-1Y designation for DOL Skill within 90 days of hire
Must be able to work shift maintenance as required.
Must be able work flexible work-week schedules as required.
Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and work on top of and below aircraft
Must be able to use hand and power tools.
Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check.
Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC).

Employees receive a minimum health and welfare benefit of $2.65 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.
