The Mechanic I is responsible for providing repair services on assigned airframe/aeronautical components and performing approved repairs. The ability to produce quality work in non-negotiable deadlines is part of this position. Essential Responsibilities:
Uses schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publication in operating, testing, removing, troubleshooting, and replacing aircraft system components.
Complies with the requirements of the FOD prevention, housekeeping, tool control, environmental and safety programs.
Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
Troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
Performs the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.
Performs aircraft conditional inspections including, but not limited to, 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections, examines reciprocating engines for cracked cylinders and oil leaks, and listens to operating engine to detect and diagnose malfunctions, such as sticking or burnt valves.
Performs all required aircraft servicing tasks.
Operates and inspects ground support equipment and documents/reports discrepancies prior to use.
Performs all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
Orders parts and supplies as needed.
Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, company policy, and other maintenance directives as required.
Identifies and documents aircraft discrepancies on appropriate forms.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Participates in towing and movement of aircraft in performing maintenance activities.
Removes, installs, opens, closes, aircraft equipment and panels as required.

Aircraft mechanic job in Kingsville, TX
Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Work from Government instructions and Maintenance Instruction Manuals and Company directives to perform maintenance repair and installation of aircraft life support systems and aircrew personal survival equipment.
Transport, install and remove Cartridge Actuated Devices and Propulsion Actuated Devices.
Pack, unpack, preserve and maintain parachutes and seat survival kits.
Repair, fit, maintain and preserve pilots personal equipment
Perform corrosion control and prevention as required.
Issues and receives aircrew survival equipment.
Initiate and update checkout/return records.
Assemble, place in service and perform calendar inspections on oxygen mask assemblies, survival vest, helmets and other related safety/survival equipment.
Perform aircraft conditional and special inspections of installed safety/survival equipment.
Maintain work center workload reports for parachute and personal equipment for accountability and inspection due dates.
Adjust, maintain and perform minor repairs on sewing machines.
Construct fabric items using sewing machine and performs hand tacking on fabrics.
Remove, install and repair slide fasteners, grommets, snap fasteners and Velcro closures on personal survival equipment and other type fabrics.
Orders required survival equipment and supplies.
Install and test emergency radios in survival vest.
May be required to perform collateral duty inspection or CD QAR functions.
Identifies and treats corrosion.
Completes applicable maintenance forms.
Briefs and debriefs flight personnel on use and condition of survival equipment.
Maintains cleanliness of work center.
Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control Programs.
Assist as directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government/Company Owned equipment.
Performs other related duties as required.
Deals with the customer in courteous, professional and effective manner.
May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
Must be able to travel at least 25% of the time. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Standards:
Must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of U.S. Navy PR school or equivalent Air Force or Army PR school. Must have three (3) years' experience, within the last seven (7) years, in aviators personal survival equipment and aircraft installed safety/survival equipment maintenance.
Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position. Must have a valid state DL upon hire.
Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC and clearance required by Government.
Physical Demands:
This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards. May work near moving mechanical parts.

Aircraft Issuer III. Issue aircraft to Squadron Flight Duty Officer(s) in accordance with prescribed instructions. Verify required maintenance has been documented and release aircraft, ‘safe for flight.
Accountability
Perform all work-related actions as directed by management.
Follow instructions by work center shift lead or above.
Ensure safety, security and preservation of government and company owned equipment.
Address/approach customer in courteous and professional manner.
Address/approach co-workers in a courteous and professional manner.
Maintain work center in a clean and orderly fashion.
Meet government and company license and/or qualification requirement(s).
Complete and comply with On the Job Training (OJT), Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste (HW), Tool Control Program (TCP) and Egress Familiarization, Program and all safety regulations by site, city, state and federal.
Operate two-way communication equipment to coordinate flight-line operations.
Provide technical assistance, guidance and instruction to maintenance control clerk(s).
Perform duties and responsibilities of the Data Entry Clerk.
Obtain qualification to Release aircraft "Safe for Flight" within thirty (30) days of start date and maintain qualification while assigned as an Aircraft Issuer.
Designate and issue aircraft that meet mission requirements for scheduled instructor pilots and students.
Direct pilot-reported discrepancies to appropriate maintenance personnel.
Assist student and instructor pilots in completion of required maintenance forms.
Maintain and review aircraft discrepancy book(s) (ADB) for accuracy.
Coordinate special/cross country flights with squadron flight duty officer.
Track flights, fuel, aborts, trouble calls, oxygen servicing, spot numbers, turn around inspections, oil log, etc.
Track aircraft high time components, phase inspection and oil sampling. Initiate Maintenance Action Form (MAF) as necessary.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, required.
Ten (10) or more years of experience in military or civilian aviation maintenance control.
Completion of U.S. Armed Forces aviation maintenance control courses, equivalent curriculum or three (3) year of on the job training.
Thorough working knowledge of maintenance control procedures.
Coordinate aircraft maintenance.
Able to operate two-way communication equipment and speak in a clear and concise manner.
Thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance records and forms.
Working knowledge of T-44/T54 aircraft preferred.
Knowledge of computer database input and type a minimum of thirty-five (35) words per minute.
Working knowledge of applicable maintenance and technical manuals and publications.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Administrative duties that may require occasionally to kneel, stand, stoop and bend.
Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Extended periods of sitting.
Office environment (within aircraft hangar).
Shift work.
Exposure to noise hazard.
Prolonged periods of keyboard input.
