Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMT) are responsible for performing high quality aircraft maintenance on various types of transport category aircraft. The Aircraft Mechanic 2 (CH-47/AH-64/UH-60 - NDI II) Oversees and performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. Inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis. Aircraft Mechanic I (23021): Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft. Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing of contractor employee technical proficiency is not required. An Aircraft Mechanic I shall be the equivalent of a Marine Corps Collateral Duty Inspector. Additional required skills for corrosion control personnel: * Respirator fit qualified * Aircraft Corrosion Control (N-701-0013) certification. * Aircraft tow qualifications or equivalent * Experience with aircraft powerline maintenance Mechanic I Functions: The Contractor Aircraft Mechanic I, in addition to the specified corrosion functions and tasks, shall be trained and qualified as Collateral Duty Inspectors (CDI) in accordance with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program 4790 and all local and command requirements. The **Aircraft Mechanic I** ( **UH-60** ) performs maintenance on helicopters, excluding repair of systems according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures. + Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls and their components. + Services and lubricates aircraft and subsystems. + Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks. + Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections. + Performs limited maintenance operational checks and assists in diagnosing and troubleshooting aircraft subsystems using special tools and equipment as required. + Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools and aircraft ground support equipment. + Prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance. + Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft. + Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance. + Performs additional duties including maintenance duties, as requested. + Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality). **Minimum Requirements** + High School Diploma or equivalent is required. + U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired, certification of education level is required. + Valid up-to-date A&P license _(optional_ ) + Shall have **three years aviation maintenance** experience, **two years rotary wing aircraft** experience, and **two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS) UH-60** . + **All experience must be within the six most recent years.** + Valid Driver's License. + **Must provide own tools/toolbox** .
