Responsibilities of the A&P Mechanic:
As an A&P Mechanic III, you will be responsible for repairs, replacement and maintenance of the key components of aircrafts.
You'll perform the necessary checks in regards to the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft, including the testing of and replacement of defective or faulty parts.
You'll use a variety of tools and equipment to perform diagnosis on parts to be replaced, and ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work, all while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop.
You will demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance including airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements: Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity.
Frequently requires vision abilities to include close, distance, depth perception, and telling the difference between colors.

Qualifications of the A&P Mechanic:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and at typically 5 or more years of relevant experience A higher level degree may substitute for experience
Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations
Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations
Must have own tools in good working order
Ability to speak, read and write in English
Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test
Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications
Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines
Preferred: FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience
Able to travel on a regular basis and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends
Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS)
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military

BIGHORN AIRWAYS is seeking skilled A&P aircraft mechanics. Bighorn Airways is a diverse aviation company, operating aircraft on USG special operations contracts in Alaska and the Lower 48, as well as overseas. Additionally, Bighorn Airways operates a busy Part 145 MRO, specializing in DHC-8, CASA 212 and Dornier 228 maintenance, and special mission modifications and avionics.
Bighorn Airways has been a leader in the Wyoming aviation community for over 70 years and has been conducting smokejumper and par cargo operations for over 30 years. All positions offered are based in Sheridan, WY with field work requirements as detailed below.
Job Requirements:
Candidates should be mission-focused and put forth the effort and expertise to provide the highest levels of safety, quality, and reliability. Experience with Honeywell TPE 331 series engines, P&W 120/121 engines, and Collins or Garmin avionics, a plus.
Salary range is highly competitive and is based on your experience. Advancement and promotion opportunities are based on demonstrated skills and initiative. Supporting aircraft involved in wildfire suppression often requires short-notice field support missions which can last several days. The ability to complete a 4-6 week rotation to Alaska during the fire season may also be required.

Inspects, repairs, maintains and services Flight School aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
Essential Functions
Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, modify and service aircraft systems and equipment, airframes and power plants in accordance with Specifications set forth by the manufacturer and the Service Manuals, Service Bulletins, FAA Regulations
Perform scheduled inspections including 100 hour and annual inspections (if authorized)
Perform maintenance and repair associated with inspections
Perform major and minor repairs and alterations as part of line maintenance, heavy maintenance and structural repair
Maintain and repair equipment used in the department
Perform other incidental duties as may be assigned
Knowledge / Skills:
Verifiable, hands-on experience of the actual time spent in the repair, maintenance, overhaul or manufacture of aircraft required
