Serves as a point of contact with the Quality Assurance Representative. Advises management of problems that may delay scheduled delivery of aircraft to the customer. Ensures materials issued for assigned tasks are the correct items to repair the problem. Provides on-the-job training to new employees as required. Assists with supervision and inspects maintenance performed by FAA-certified and non-certified personnel. Services oxygen, nitrogen, tires, oil, and hydraulic systems. Performs Corrosion Control checks when required. Greets visitors and clients. Exhibits positive courteous behavior with customers businesses and coworkers. Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. Writes all additional items and squawks communicated by customer or identified during inspection. Monitors hours charged to a job to assure that manpower is optimized and efficiency is maintained to meet or exceed customers expectations. Reviews employee time cards on a daily basis to verify accuracy of time charged to work orders as well as performance relative to quoted hours. Informs facility general manager of problems and work status so that communications with the customers are timely and complete. Reviews work orders for completion and invoice for accuracy prior to submission to the general manager. Ensures work orders are in accordance with our repair station manual, including RTS functions. Ensures completion of a final “walk around” to confirm aircraft cleanliness and readiness for departure. Assures that crew members are well-trained on assigned aircraft, that they are scheduled for periodic technical training in-house or at designated off-site locations. Works cooperatively with other TAC personnel to assure cross-training on other aircraft models. Supports and adheres to safety, environmental and general housekeeping policies. Is proactive in the area of safety; promotes safe work habits to the crew, monitors the work environment for safety hazards and takes steps to address/remove hazards. You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including: * Lead the team to complete the necessary jobs/tasks. This shall include, but not be limited to items such as removal and installation of panels and components, repair work and sheet metal repair or installation. * Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated. * Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated. * Aircraft movement, performance runs and taxiing when required. * Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment and tooling to support operations. * Work with customer in project management, pricing and customer support roles. * Willing to travel 25% of your time (both foreign and domestic) * Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English * Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. What you'll need to bring with you: Your Education A High school diploma or equivalent and Airframe and Powerplant License are required. A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory. Aircraft specific factory training is preferred. Your Experience 5+ year's prior experience aircraft maintenance to include involvement in supervision of four or more team members. An advanced knowledge of FAA paperwork, work orders and use of Corridor systems. Working Conditions The majority of work will be accomplished in a hangar environment which can include very hot or very cold temperatures Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. Varied positions in and around the aircraft. Equipment Used Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment. Jacks, stands, lifts and other support devices. Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment. Personal computer and work order prints. The hourly rate for this position generally ranges from $38.00 to $69.00. Actual hourly rate will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, shift, and performance.
