As the Lead Mechanic at Asphalt Contractors, Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our equipment fleet. Your expertise and experience will be essential in keeping our machinery in optimal condition to deliver high-quality services to our clients. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on various construction equipment, including but not limited to asphalt pavers, rollers, skid steers, and trucks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and work alongside team of mechanics diagnosing malfunctions and performing vehicle and equipment repairs including adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines, hydraulics, making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, control linkages, etc, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State and local guidelines and requirements.
Ensure equipment availability by completing preventative maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and executing winterization procedures, among others.
Conduct test-drives to ensure that repairs effectively resolve the identified problems.
Approve all major repairs before vehicles or equipment are released from the maintenance facility.
Maintain a safe, clean, and productive maintenance facility, ensuring compliance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines and requirements.
Keep comprehensive vehicle records by meticulously annotating services and repair logs.
Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as needed to provide timely and efficient services.
Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to promptly address repairs and diagnostics while maintaining high-quality standards.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience, accompanied by one to two years of supervisory experience.
Possession of a CDL Class A license is required.
Strong diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential for this role.
Prior work experience and expertise in troubleshooting and repairing skidsteers, asphalt rollers, mid-sized wheel loaders, etc.
Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is a must.
Previous fleet experience, including familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems.
Must have the recommended minimum Hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making skills.

A Day In The Life of an A&P Mechanic

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience, accompanied by one to two years of supervisory experience.
Possession of a CDL Class A license is required.
Strong diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential for this role.
Prior work experience and expertise in troubleshooting and repairing skidsteers, asphalt rollers, mid-sized wheel loaders, etc.
Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is a must.
Previous fleet experience, including familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems.
