A&P Mechanic - Final Assembly/Flight Line Reports To: Director of Operations Status: Non-Exempt BASIC WORKER FUNCTION: Performs final installations, adjustments and testing procedures as helicopter goes onto flight line for final stage of manufacturing process, flight test, blade tracking, and sign-off. Recommends sign-off by authorized personnel during assembly, installation and/or repair process, or signs off under FAR 65.103, where appropriate. ADDITIONAL GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASKS: Tracks blades with pilot, and performs adjustments on blades and various helicopter mechanisms, adjusts fuel flows, etc until helicopter receives FAA approval and sign-off occurs. Does flight line repair and overhaul work for customer service as assigned. Signs off work as legally appropriate. Examines parts and assemblies for defects and to determine conformance to specifications and blueprints, and reports lack of conformance to the appropriate parties. Examines defective machinery and equipment in Assembly area to determine cause of malfunction, and reports need for repair to Supervisor. Installs and adjusts such complex assemblies as correlator assembly, main rotor assembly, tail rotor assembly, drive belt pulleys, exhaust manifolds, linkage connections for cyclic stick, heater hoses for cabin and fittings, and belt tension assembly, connects fuel lines, etc. Using power and hand tools performs all installations according to blueprints and specifications. This position is located in Cleveland, OH at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport (CLE) DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Perform all airframe and powerplant repairs and modifications required to meet company and FAA requirements Remove and disassemble defective parts; assemble and install of replacement parts and testing aircraft system Operate all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments Complete all required maintenance records in an accurate manner to include accurately reporting of times required to accomplish the tasks assigned Must support all company policies and safety programs to include OSHA and EPA regulations Interpret technical manuals, drawings and blueprints Present a clean and neat work area Demonstrate professionalism and deliver satisfaction to the internal/external customer Perform other related duties & responsibilities as assigned EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE FAA Airframe & Powerplant License is required 2-4 years directly related aviation experience (corporate aircraft experience preferred) At least 2 years of fleet type experience desired Good working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 145, 135, 121 Sheet metal experience is preferred but not required REQUIRED SKILLS Successful candidate will be highly motivated and work effectively under pressure and time constraints Must have the ability to multi-task within a team environment Strong working knowledge of Windows and MS Office programs Possess proven inspection competencies Must be detail-oriented and well organized; demonstrate excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude Specialized aircraft tooling will be furnished by the company WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
