Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and specialize in engine repair. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:
Electrical Systems and related Sub-Systems
Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
AircraftMechanic I shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.
Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
Task Requirements:
Process Visual Information Display System/Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAF) from aircrew or maintenance technicians in accordance with OPNAVINST 4790.2 Series, Navy, and Company Instructions.
Performs all other required duties as applicable and assigned by supervision.
Performs aircraft organizational level maintenance functions on E-2D, MH-60R, MH-60S and P-8A aircraft.
Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned E-2D, MH-60R, MH-60S and P-8A aircraft
Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation
Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned readiness posture outlined in in the activities plan and daily flight schedule
Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
Troubleshoot malfunctions in Power Distribution/Electrical Power/Automatic Flight Control/Wing or Rotor Fold and aircraft Lighting Systems.
Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment.
Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight control.
Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry
Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections
General aircraft maintenance
Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
Perform other tasks as directed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five or more years rotary wing maintenance experience
Previously certified Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for Line and/or Power Plants
Basic Corrosion Control
Basic Qualifications:
Two or more years' fixed wing aircraft maintenance experience.
Two or more years' rotary aircraft maintenance experience
Must be able to work shift maintenance as required.
Must be able work flexible work-week schedules as required.

Compensation
$51.38/hour
Other Compensation
Employees receive an hourly Flexible Benefit credit of $8.00 for all hours paid, including overtime hours worked, to purchase coverage for themselves and eligible dependents from Group Insurance Plans offered by KAI. The Company shall contribute to the I.A.M. National Pension Fund $3.40 per hour paid up to forty (40) hours per week.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees accrue a minimum of 3.69 hours of vacation per pay period. KAI employees at VX-1 Pax River have 12 paid holidays.

Task Requirements:

The T-6 COMBS Aircraft/Support Equipment Mechanic II/Inspector is responsible for inspecting, repairing, maintaining, and supporting aircraft contractor-furnished support equipment (CFSE) and related systems under the Contractor Operated and Maintained Base Supply (COMBS) Program. Responsibilities:
1. Performs the safe and efficient operation of fuel handling equipment, such as bulldozers and loaders, unloading and reclaiming conveyor systems, barge unloaders, and stacker/reclaimers.
2. Performs maintenance on all the various types of fuel handling and CCB equipment associated with the unloading and reclaiming of fuel and the disposal of coal combustion products by:
- Visually inspecting equipment for stress and wear
- Changing fluids and parts as necessary and required
- Testing operations as necessary and required
- Initiating orders for regular equipment services and ensuring service is appropriately completed
3. Performs minor mechanical or electrical repair or modifications on equipment or initiates requests for specialized internal or external resources to perform necessary and required repairs or modifications.
4. May work in baghouse compartments making bag replacements and minor repairs as well as tensioning of bags.
5. May perform other fuel handling duties, as needed.
6. Performs all duties in compliance with the company's safety and environmental programs.
Skills/Competencies:
1. Ability to work with bulk materials such as coal, dirt, ash, gravel and coal combustion products.

The maintenance mechanic position is responsible for repairing and maintaining stationary machinery, mobile equipment, and mechanical equipment such as conveyor systems, shakers, pumps, gearboxes, etc. This position is also responsible for preventative maintenance and repair of aggregate plant processing equipment and repair of mobile equipment.

A typical day for a(n) Maintenance Mechanic may include:
* Performing various roles, including fabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping and various other shop or processing duties
* Maximizing performance of equipment by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis
* Performing simple and intermediate type diagnosis/repairs without constant supervision
* Utilizing electrical and pressure testing equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards
* Completing required paperwork to maintain equipment and to run the plant according to Martin Marietta Materials standards
* Performing erection of processing equipment and makes repairs to processing equipment and mobile equipment
* Conducting MSHA pre-shift safety inspections of equipment and work area

* Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
* Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

This position will be responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of fixed electrical equipment, mechanical equipment, systems and machinery. Also maintain, install and repairs mechanical equipment and machinery. This position is a 2nd shift position with start time varying from 1:00pm-3:00pm. Overtime will be required and shift may be adjusted for business needs
**WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH**
+ Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Reports required repairs or other findings to Area Manager.
+ Adheres to all safety, environmental and company policies and procedures in completing daily tasks, and completes all required paperwork in a timely fashion.
+ Completes work orders in a timely manner; installing, repairing and fabricating materials out of metal; ensuring availability and functioning of required items; and ensuring safety and resolving immediate safety concerns.
+ Assembling pieces of metal together or repairing damage in metal components using heavy machinery that emits high heat, melting the metal into shape.
+ Performs the appropriate plant equipment inspections, repairs and preventative maintenance for both fixed and mobile equipment.
+ Responsible for preparing and welding steel and aluminum structures, appendages and equipment.
+ Performs routine preventative maintenance on plant equipment including handling welding repairs.
+ Conducts routine inspections of plant and mobile equipment and report findings to Area Manager.
+ Prepares Plant reports as required and maintain an inventory of regularly used repair supplies or equipment.

Operates all equipment in a boiler plant to produce and control the amount of steam necessary to meet demands. These demands are significantly affected by the large amounts of steam or high pressure temperature water provide by the boiler plant.
Ignites fires, puts boilers in service, and closes down boilers.
Periodically makes rounds of the plant to visually check equipment to see that is operating properly.
Maintains constant observation of flow meters and charts to determine how much steam is being produced, whether it is meeting or exceeding demands, how much fuel is being used, etc.
Fires up to take boilers off the line.
Determines whether to up or lower fires in boilers, whether to use pressure reducing valves, whether water pumps should be started or stopped and for how long.
Adjusts firing controls, fuel feeds, and air drafts for best combustion efficiency.
Operates numerous auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, water heaters, fans, and de-aerating equipment.
Collects samples of boiler water, performs prescribed tests, and determines amount of chemicals to be fed into boilers for treatment of water and control of corrosion and chemical concentrations.
Maintains constant observation for defects in the system. In the event problems arise, either repairs malfunctions or notifies the supervisor.
Follows standard emergency procedures until trouble can be corrected.
Maintains logs, records, and other plant data as required.
Performs routine operational maintenance, e.g., cleans burners, oils and grease moving parts, packs valves and pumps, cleans oil strainers, etc.
May be required to locate and repair limited electrical problems in oil burning controls, safety devices, etc.
Operates various types of air conditioning and cooling systems.
Starts stops and adjusts equipment.
Regulates refrigerant, water temperatures and pressures by manipulating appropriate switches, rheostats, valves and levers.
Tours the plant making minor repairs, oiling and greasing equipment, thawing frozen valves, replacing fuses and defective recording devices.
Maintains log of plant equipment and keeps all machinery and spaces clean.
Contractor shall have knowledge of the location and function of all equipment controls, meters and gauges in the plant, and experienced skill to determine appropriate action to meet significantly complex demands.
Contractor shall have knowledge of prescribed tests and chemicals to test and treat boiler water.
Knowledge of drawings and circuit diagrams of the boiler plant and auxiliary equipment to quickly locate defects in the system and perform minor repairs.
Thorough knowledge of the fuels used, the chemical reactions involved combustion, and the proper fuel air ratio needed for maximum efficiency.
Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance requirements and the procedures or adjustments required controlling pollutants.
Independently plans and carries out the work in accordance with established operating methods and procedures.
Making complex determinations due to the amounts of steam or high temperature water provided by the plant. The work is shall be checked through occasional observation for adherence to operating techniques and established procedures.
Employees' work schedules will be compatible with the Government's operating hours at the facility in which work is to be performed. This position may require shift work. Work on all shifts may be ordered, including weekends and holidays.

Boiler operator must have a Class 1 Boiler Operator License in the States of Maryland, Virginia or Washington, D.C. Or, must have a Class 1 Boiler Operator License with American Society of Power Engineers (ASOPE) or National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE)
Experience:
Have a minimum of six (6) months experience in the operation of large (100 tons or more) air conditioning and/or refrigerant, or two (2) years' experience as an air conditioning equipment mechanic helper or apprentice.
Demonstrated knowledge of repair, installation, assembly and troubleshooting of boiler plant systems.
Demonstrated ability to interpret instructions, specifications, and guidelines used in boiler plant operations.
Demonstrated ability to exercise dexterity and safety in using tools and equipment.

Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance.
Demonstrated ability to operate safely.

Demonstrated ability to perform work that includes moderate to strenuous physical effort and long periods of walking, standing, climbing, bending, and crouching.
Demonstrated ability to carry parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally items weighing over 40 pounds with assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment.
Demonstrated ability to work in areas that is subjected to high temperatures, constant noise, rotating machinery, soot, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil, and fumes.
At a minimum, a record of completion for the OSHA 10-hour Construction Training Course is required.
