    The Plant Mechanic is responsible for safe repair and maintenance of mining equipment typically found in an aggregate facility including crushers, screen decks, conveyors, drums, etc. The Plant Mechanic is expected to complete pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, submit required daily documentation and assist in plant operations as needed. Responsibilities Perform safety and mechanical inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on crushing plants, screens, conveyours, feeders, and support systems of the plant and equipment Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs) including lubrication, fluid changes, screen replacements, belt adjustments, and component inspections Replace bearings, rollers, pumps, motors, hoses, cylinders, and structural components as needed Assist with plant rebuilds, relocations, and major shutdown maintenance Complete detailed maintenance logs and work orders Operate loaders, excavators, water trucks, haul trucks, skid steers, and other equipment as needed to support operations Safely move materials, load stokepiles, and assist with plant cleanup and resets Perform basic daily equipment checks before and after use Communicate equipment needs and repair timelines with supervisor and operators Collaborate with plant and mobile equipment teams to minimize downtime Assist in training operations on equipment care and inspection practices Address any housekeeping issues within the workspace; maintain a clean and organized work area Drive to various facilities to perform maintenance and repair tasks; may also include periodic work at ready-mix plants Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent operational delays, to include but not limited to: hydraulic, mechanical, and pueumatice system issues Understand and comply with MSHA rules and regulations; follow MSHA, company policies, and lockout/tagout procedures at all times Identify and report safety hazards and/or equipment concerns immediately Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training programs Other duties as assigned by manager Education High school diploma/GED Requirements/Qualifications Must have a valid drivers license 2-5+ years of experience as a plant mechanic, or similar role Experience with crushinng equipment (impact, jaw, cone crushers) Knowledge of conveyor alignment, belt tracking, and belt splicing Strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills Welding, fabrication, or cutting torch experience preferred Provide own tools typically used in aggregate facility maintenance Physical requirements: able to lift or move up to 100 lbs., stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, kneel, crouch, and drive on rough terrain Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment Ability to work extended hours or variable shifts as needed Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers and various other types of fixed equipment used in the industry Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g. loaders, excavators, ADTs, dozers and water trucks) Follow MSHA, company safety policies, and lockout/tagout procedures at all times Current MSHA training certification preferred Conditions of Employment Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
