Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Maintains repairs/modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. * Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. * Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation. * Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures' manuals. * Job requirements: must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. * This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. * The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. * Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. Qualifications and Experience: * Minimum of five years' experience performing APG aircraft maintenance functions in a military environment and attainment of an Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required. Experience on F-117A preferred. * Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly "cross- utilization/trained" environment. Will be required to perform at a high level of competency in one or more of the following areas: repair and reclamation, egress, electro/environmental, avionics, wheel & tire, sheet metal, composite repair, propulsion, fuels, AGE, armament, munitions, non-destructive inspection (NDI), and pneudraulics. * Performs transient aircraft support. CDDAR team chief. Phase dock chief. Engine run certifier. QA augmentation. Wheel & Tire certified. * Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed. * High school diploma or GED is required. * Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory. * Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
