The Aircraft Mechanic assigned to a foreign field site is responsible to the Off-Site Supervisor for performing duties as assigned. Frequently exercises independent judgment and possesses abilities sufficient to supervise a crew of aircraft mechanics. Work is performed under minimum supervision, and the employee consults with the supervisor only for the initial job assignment and where departures from standard practices are involved.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Incumbents perform journey-level technical maintenance, repairs, and alterations, including airframe, powerplant, propeller, rotor, or appliance, to reciprocating and/or turbine-powered aircraft in either Sheriff's or Fire Department's air operations. Incumbents must possess working knowledge of the methods of locating and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, and other troubles; the ability to maintain and repair engines, airframes, and accessory equipment; and knowledge of operation and preventive maintenance requirements of the aircraft to be maintained. Helicopter Mechanics serve a one year probationary period during which time they receive structured, in-service training in the repair and maintenance of complex, single-engine or multi-engine, turbine-powered aircraft. * Must have positive attitude towards productivity, quality of work and safety
* Be proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn operating systems the company utilizes
* Ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written
* Ability to work overtime when workload demands it
* Must be physically capable to execute the duties of this position including: Bending, squatting, kneeling, sitting and standing for extended periods of time, must be comfortable working on ladders and or workstations of 10 feet or less and small spaces such as under instrument panels and inside empennage, Frequent usage of hands, wrists, shoulders and back is necessary, the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and the ability to work on exposed aircraft parking ramp in weather conditions including but not limited to rain and winds.

$37 - $45 an hour
