Drill, countersink and rivet exterior skin panels where skin quality is critical. Works from all types of complex blueprints, E.O.s, and production illustrations. Completes any or all structural rework/repair, squawks, and E.O. Must be able to utilize computer-based systems to perform duties. May be required to work in confined space. Fabricate detail parts from blueprint or engineering instructions. Perform aircraft inventory, acceptance, and inspections. This position will support Tactical Air's fleet of fighter aircraft with over 75 years of combined experience in tactical aviation maintenance and more than 30 years of military adversary contract maintenance. Purpose and Scope: The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. Essential Responsibilities: Services, repairs and overhaul equipment and engines. Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds equipment and engine components, fuel systems (including cells, tanks and fuel/metering control systems), and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. Inspects and repairs power plants (engines) malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc. Diagnoses malfunctions, isolate causes and correct breaks. Removes engine and major components from equipment, using hoist or other lifting devices. Disassembles and inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
