Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Deployable Aircraft Mechanic 4 for a rotational OCONUS program based in Palmdale, CA. You will be responsible for performing minor structural repairs and modifications. Troubleshoot, repair and service aircraft and engine systems. Conduct diagnosis of malfunctions. Perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems. All within accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Fabricate, install and test installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses. Read wiring diagrams and blueprints. You may receive additional training and be cross utilized into aircraft low observable maintenance to fulfill the daily activities and duties required to meet contract requirements. Low Observable tasks include repair of composite or metallic structures, and sanding, stripping, testing, masking and other preparation tasks. Basic Qualifications: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 6 years of relevant experience in the Aviation and/or Aerospace industry. Must have an active DoD Top Secret (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation). Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by business needs. This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, and accessing small, confined spaces Must be able to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements. Must be able to meet medical requirements for worldwide travel. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport. Willingness to accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 180 days away from primary work location to support business needs. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti- icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
