TASK DESCRIPTION: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):
Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:
Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Hydraulic/Pneumatic, Mechanical Flight Control Systems, Power Plants and related Sub-Systems, Fuel and Air Systems, Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems, Flight Control Systems, Avionics/Electrical Systems and related Sub-Systems, and Aircraft Logs and Records Administration
Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, Air Force Maintenance Programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and exhibit leadership and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.

Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
Task Requirements:
Performs general mechanic duties in support of B-1 aircraft systems and related sub-systems.
Familiar with duties assigned to personnel within all work centers.
800 hour, 400 hour, and 200 hour Phase Inspections; Hourly Post Flight Inspections (HPOs); Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO); one time inspection (OTI), and time change item (TCI) replacement.
Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance including repair of delayed discrepancies on the B-1 aircraft's structural, avionics, hydraulic, electrical, and propulsion, flight control, landing gear systems that includes but is not limited to: troubleshooting to identify source of discrepancies, identify failed systems/components, repair actions including flight control/engine rigging, replacement of components to restore proper operation, operational checks including landing gear extension and retraction checks, cabin pressurization, etc.
Install Depot-level TCTOs, T1, and T2 Mods.
Provide flight line operations support including aircraft tows, pre/post-flights, aircraft servicing, engine runs and flight line support.
Aircraft wash and corrosion control operations on the B-1 aircraft's structural, avionics, hydraulic, electrical, and propulsion systems.
Inspect and repair structural components, both on and off, the aircraft utilizing metal, plastic, and advanced composite materials within the scope and qualification of the CFT.
Communicate and coordinate with the appropriate AMU the need for required parts/components needed to effect required repairs as expeditiously as possible.
If directed by the COR, management of the Cannibalization (CANN) Program and within the scope and qualification of the CFT including all aircraft preparations, parts management, aircraft forms management and rebuild actions to include operational checks.
Compliance with applicable aircraft technical data (Work Cards, Job Guides, Technical Orders, etc…) and/or other pertinent instructions such as but not limited to Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs) and local MXG instructions as provided by the site COR.
Correct utilization of all applicable technical documentation in the performance of all tasks and document discrepancies identified, parts ordered and maintenance tasks completed in Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS).
Performs all other required duties as applicable and assigned by supervision.
Performs aircraft maintenance functions of the Line, Corrosion Control, and Aircraft Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot Level maintenance.
Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, and corrosion control.
Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned readiness posture outlined in in the activities plan and daily flight schedule
Troubleshoot, remove/install, and transport to/from aircraft as required, classified Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)/components IAW established procedures
Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, pneumatic, hydraulic, ventilation and heating, flight surfaces and controls, dynamic components, and powerplant systems.
Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).
Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight control.
Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry
Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections
Operational support services
General aircraft maintenance
Use chemical sealants.
Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
