Role Summary : The Aircraft Mechanic role is responsible for repair and maintenance of aircraft for the Maintenance & Engineering division of Hawaiian Airlines. As a member of the Hawaiian Airlines ‘ohana, this individual contributor role performs all functions in the repair and maintenance of aircraft, which includes dismantling, repairing, assembly, and erection of machinery and mechanical devices. This is a union represented position. Key Duties : - Responsible for accomplishing assigned maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair work on Hawaiian Airlines aircraft(s). - Checks, dismantles, overhauls, repairs, fabricates, and welds all parts of aircraft, including engines, radio equipment, instruments, electrical systems, heating systems and hydraulic systems. - Performs machine tool work in connection with the above mechanic maintenance work. - Dismantles, repairs, fabricates, welds, alters, and maintains all machinery and mechanical devices, including automotive equipment, ramp equipment, buildings, hanger, and fuel storage or dispensing equipment. - Shall be required to return an aircraft to service after maintenance had been performed as allowed by the GMM and the privileges of the airframe and powerplant license. - Shall be required to sign work records in connection with work performed. - Inspects parts, sub-assemblies and completed assemblies only to the extent necessary to determine, accomplish and approve own work. - Will be required to but not limited to be working on check aircraft. Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills : Required - Must have FAA Airframe and Powerplant License. - Must be able to become qualified to perform engine run and taxi on the A321 and A330 aircrafts. - Must be able to become qualified on the A321, A330, 717 and 787 aircrafts. - Must have own tools. - Must be able to lift 25lbs. frequently and up to 70lbs. as needed. - Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve technical issues. - Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and grasp. - Must have a valid unexpired driver's license issued by a US state, a US territory or the District of Columbia. - Flexible to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. - Ability to obtain airport security clearance. - Ability to communicate in English. - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum age of 18. - Must be authorized to work in the U.     Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022): Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines. Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform general Organizational Level maintenance and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below: Blade/Pylon Fold, Power Plants and related Sub-Systems, Fuel and Air Systems, Rotor Systems, and related Sub-systems Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures. Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures. Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance. Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications. Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records. Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems. Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Process Visual Information Display System/Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAF) from aircrew or maintenance technicians in accordance with OPNAVINST 4790.2 Series, Navy, and Company Instructions. Assists in coordinating aircraft moves and static display requirements. Performs all other required duties as applicable and assigned by supervision. Performs aircraft organizational level maintenance functions on H-1 aircraft. Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned H-1 aircraft Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned readiness posture outlined in in the activities plan and daily flight schedule Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, pneumatic, hydraulic, ventilation and heating, flight surfaces and controls, dynamic components, and powerplant systems. Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment. Inspect, repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components/sub components to include rigging of flight control. Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections General aircraft maintenance Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system. Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment Perform shift work and/or overtime as required Perform other tasks as directed. Preferred Qualifications: Seven or more years rotary wing maintenance experience Naval Aviation Maintenance Control Management course (C-555-0053) Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) for Airframes, Power Plants and Electrical Systems Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) for Line and/or Power Plants Completed NATEC Course Automated Track and Balancing System (ATABS) Basic Corrosion Control Previously certified Tire and Wheel Previously certified Hydraulic Contamination Previously certified H-1 Plane Captain Basic Qualifications: Four or more years' H-1 rotary aircraft maintenance experience Must achieve Collateral Duty/Quality Assurance Representative (CD/QAR) AH-1Z & UH-1Y designation for DOL Skill within 90 days of hire Must be able to work shift maintenance as required. Must be able work flexible work-week schedules as required. Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and work on top of and below aircraft Must be able to use hand and power tools. Must have dexterity to handle small parts. Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned. Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check Local Records Check and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC). Compensation $41.49/hour Other Compensation Employees receive a minimum health and welfare benefit of $2.65 per hour paid up to 40 hours per week.
