The UH-60 AircraftMechanic Avionics is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of avionics systems installed on the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. This position ensures aircraft avionics systems are fully mission-capable, safe, and compliant with applicable technical manuals, regulations, and operational requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on UH-60 avionics systems, including communication, navigation, flight control, and mission equipment
Troubleshoot and isolate avionics system malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic tools
Remove, repair, replace, and reinstall avionics components such as radios, GPS, flight instruments, wiring harnesses, displays, sensors, and integrated avionics units
Conduct operational and functional checks to verify system performance and airworthiness
Perform aircraft inspections in accordance with maintenance schedules and technical directives
Document maintenance actions accurately in aircraft logs, maintenance records, and electronic tracking systems
Interpret and comply with applicable technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations
Assist with aircraft modifications, upgrades, and incorporation of avionics kits or mission equipment
Support ground and flight operations as required, including preflight and postflight inspections
Maintain avionics tools, test equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition
Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards at all times
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of military or civilian avionics maintenance training
Experience maintaining UH-60 (Black Hawk) avionics systems or similar rotary-wing aircraft
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications
Proficiency with avionics test equipment and diagnostic tools
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) license
Prior military aviation maintenance experience (15 series, 68 series, or equivalent)

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is building a pool of qualified candidates for current and future opportunities as Aircraft Workers (AWs). This entry-level program offers aspiring aviation maintenance professionals-especially those with mechanical experience in automotive, marine, military, or industrial trades-a pathway to enter and grow within the aviation industry.
AWs are paired with certificated Aircraft & Powerplant Maintenance Technicians in a helper/assistant role, gaining skills and hands-on experience while contributing to Embry-Riddle's aircraft maintenance operations. As AWs gain proficiency, they progress through four defined levels (A1-A4), each with increasing responsibility, while remaining under the direct supervision of both their assigned mentor A&P and the crew shift lead.

The UH-60 AircraftMechanic - Avionics is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of avionics systems installed on the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. This position ensures aircraft avionics systems are fully mission-capable, safe, and compliant with applicable technical manuals, regulations, and operational requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on UH-60 avionics systems, including communication, navigation, flight control, and mission equipment
Troubleshoot and isolate avionics system malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic tools
Remove, repair, replace, and reinstall avionics components such as radios, GPS, flight instruments, wiring harnesses, displays, sensors, and integrated avionics units
Conduct operational and functional checks to verify system performance and airworthiness
Perform aircraft inspections in accordance with maintenance schedules and technical directives
Document maintenance actions accurately in aircraft logs, maintenance records, and electronic tracking systems
Interpret and comply with applicable technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations
Assist with aircraft modifications, upgrades, and incorporation of avionics kits or mission equipment
Support ground and flight operations as required, including preflight and postflight inspections
Maintain avionics tools, test equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition
Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards at all times
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of military or civilian avionics maintenance training
Experience maintaining UH-60 (Black Hawk) avionics systems or similar rotary-wing aircraft
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications
Proficiency with avionics test equipment and diagnostic tools
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) license
Prior military aviation maintenance experience (15 series, 68 series, or equivalent)
Experience with integrated avionics systems, digital flight displays, and mission equipment
Knowledge of Army or DoD maintenance documentation systems
Active or ability to obtain a security clearance (if required)

· Inspects jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks, tests engine operation, using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester, to locate source of malfunction.
· Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, such as carburetors, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine mounted gearboxes, and compressor bleed valves using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment; removing engine from aircraft, using hoist or forklift truck, disassembling and inspecting parts for wear, cracks, security, or other defects, and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles and installs engine in aircraft.
· Adjusts, repairs, or replaces electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft, including flushing crankcase, cleaning screens and filters, greasing moving parts, and checking brakes.
· Supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair.
· Knowledge of equipment related to individual requirements (AH-64).
· Knowledge of military publications (including electronic manuals), drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams, and schematics is mandatory.
· Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus.
· Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements

· A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
· All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
· Valid Driver's License
· Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.
· High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Clearance Requirements:
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
· Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
· US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Physical/Preferred Requirements:
· Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruised from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts in shop area.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
· The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
