Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Deployable Aircraft Low Observable Mechanic 4 for a rotational OCONUS position based in Palmdale, CA.
You will be responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials and applications. Prepare composite or metallic surfaces for coating applications by performing various operations such as sanding, stripping, applying vacuum, performing porosity testing, masking and other preparation tasks. Mix and apply sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices. Mix and apply paints and other coatings at the proper spraying consistency. Apply additional surface details to manufacturer specifications. Perform or coordinate component-level testing for specification compliance after applications have been completed. May perform similar duties in aircraft build, modification or maintenance role.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experienced.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport.
Accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 180 days away from primary work location.
Must meet medical requirements which currently includes fully vaccinated for worldwide travel.
This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, and accessing small, confined spaces.
Must be able to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.
Must be able to perform work assignments at Palmdale and Edwards AFB, CA.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

+ The successful candidate will service, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and maintain aircraft and ground support equipment in support of test operations and sustainment activities in accordance with maintenance documentation.

Responsibilities
Perform inspections, system troubleshooting, repairs, and tests to aircraft avionic, electrical, and modified equipment on and off aircraft.
Fabricate and/or modify electronic enclosures, panels, circuit boards and wire harnesses per aircraft drawings or engineering notes. Verify new equipment, wire/harness, connectors, back shells meet design requirements and F-16/X-62 specific requirements.
Support engineering during aircraft system testing, insure safety standards are met for both aircraft systems and engineer personnel. Provide technical assistance when electrical or engineering problems are encountered during and after testing.
Follow established quality assurance procedures with regard to all work performed on the VISTA X-62A aircraft.
Support aircrew during aircraft launch and during aircrew ground test procedures. Assist aircrew during debrief and insure correct identification of problems for correct troubleshooting directions.
Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience:
F-16 electrical/avionic technician 7 level certification;
Seven (7) + years in aircraft electrical, avionics, radar, communications;
A combination of education and experience equivalent to above.
Preferred Knowledge/Ability:
Fly-by-wire aircraft;
Troubleshooting various F-16 problems;
Hydraulic and pneumatic principles;
Digital “Fly-By-Wire” flight control principles;
Electrical and electronic principles;

The role
The AircraftMechanic role works as a member of a team performing everything from light maintenance to heavy structural repairs on our fixed-winged aircraft. The right candidate will possess a results-driven mindset and the collaborative spirit necessary to ensure efficient workflow while keeping safety and quality as non-negotiable top priorities.
Responsibilities
Perform efficient troubleshooting, aircraft maintenance, and repairs in accordance with applicable aviation regulations, manufacturer's instructions, and company policies on our single engine and multi-engine piston powered flight training aircraft.
Ensure consistent, accurate aircraft maintenance records by properly documenting & completing required forms, computer entries, and logbook entries.
Follow all policies and procedures
Keep a clean and orderly work environment
Perform job duties in a safe manner
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
2 or more years of piston-powered aircraft maintenance experience
Knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer manuals
Possess adequate tools
FAA Inspection Authorization
(preferred not required)
Private pilot's license
(preferred not required)
Avionics troubleshooting experience with Garmin integrated avionics
(preferred not required)

Summary:
The Aircraft Servicer washes aircraft and aircraft components as required utilizing a high-pressure wash system. Performs pre/post wash lubrication of aircraft.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
* Install and remove protective covers
* Move aircraft utilizing towing equipment
* Operate ground support equipment
* Operate portable firefighting equipment
* Prepare aircraft for washing by ensuring vent areas are taped and all protective covers are in place
* Wash and rinse external and internal surface of aircraft and aircraft components to remove grease, dirt, oil fungus and stains
* Use and maintain high-pressure wash system
* Polish and clean windscreens / canopies with water, polishing / cleansing compounds and cloth
* Perform pre / post wash aircraft lubrication utilizing established procedures
* Comply with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, and Tool Control programs
* Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment
* Utilize two-way communication equipment as required
* Responsible to lead the team to complete aircraft wash, lube, and interior cleaning in accordance with technical orders and work cards
* Responsible to assign tasks to Aircraft Servicers
* Responsible for aircraft forms and maintenance information system documentation
* Perform other qualified duties as required
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
* Familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around aircraft and ground support equipment
* Able to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction
* Capable of comprehending written and oral instructions for the use of aircraft cleaning equipment.
* Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time
* Requires frequent climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, balancing and reaching above shoulder level, pushing or pulling weight up to 70 pounds
* Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity
* Must have close vision to include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
* Requires hearing to the normal range
* May require the use of respirator
* Requires shift work and a diversity of working conditions that may range from standard shop type environment where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sunlight, wind, rain, etc.
* May be required to work where high noise hazards prevail
* Will be required to wear protective clothing and other safety equipment during periods of extreme hot and cold temperatures
