Lead Mechanic Supervisor-Services Electrician Purpose: Colonna's Shipyard is seeking a Services Electrician Supervisor to support day shift of the Temporary Services Department in our Shipyard in Norfolk, VA. Position will support management with training and assignment of semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their ability, experience, and job knowledge in support and execution of production goals in ship repair/industrial fabrication operations.
The position is located onsite in Norfolk VA and will often require hours beyond a standard work week with flexible schedule availability to support production/operations.
Position may require occasional travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary duty is to execute routine (and non-routine) production duties in support of operational goals and in compliance with Company procedures and policies.
Performs skilled tasking (relative to their assigned trade) in the maintenance, repair, installation/removal, new construction, etc. activities supporting ship repair/industrial fabrication operations.
Supports management to facilitate daily production activities of the team and helps ensure employees (assigned to their work crew) have all necessary tools, equipment, work procedures, etc. to work safely and efficiently.
May assist management with timekeeping validation, training, performance management, coaching/counselling, supervision, etc. for employees assigned to their work crews.
Breaks broader production requirements down to practical action plans to support safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals while providing constant monitoring of job sites.
Utilizing their production knowledge, make recommendations to support Plan of the Day (POD) for their assigned projects and utilizing their assigned resources to efficiently achieve operational requirements of projects.
Evaluates job sites and work environments prior to work starting to ensure safe project set ups and efficient work evolutions.
Responsible for understanding and complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all contract requirements, drawings, procedures/work instructions, etc.
Additionally, position will:
Review project specifications/SOWs and support creation of requisitions of all needed materials in accordance with contract requirements and associated references.
Generate and submits production reports to management (to include condition and surveillance reports, operational briefs, executed quality checks, etc.) meeting all technical/customer reporting requirements.
Support management in ensuring tools/resources are mobilized and demobilized from project appropriately, providing updates on damaged or lost equipment.
Initiates QA/Customer call out and attends/executes TIP inspections.
May serve as backup/makeup to supervisor, as needed.
Provides input to management and project teams to support schedule, progress, ETC/EAC updates for all projects assigned to them.
Install and connect temporary shore power to lighting, ships systems support equipment and alarm systems during overhaul/repair operations.
Install, test, maintain and remove temporary services to U.S. Navy vessels, tugs, barges, ferries, etc. during overhaul/ repair operations. Temporary services provided may include HVAC, air and water for various uses, effluent discharge, and steam.
Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and lubricating for industrial production and processing systems.
Select type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
Disconnect and reconnect motors and electrical equipment.
Adjust/align or replace components of motors, generators, and alternators such as bearings, centrifugal switches, brushes, diodes, etc.
Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors or Registered Apprentice (grad) or HS and at least 6 years related trade experience (in the trade to be supervised).
Must have at least six years of experience in the electrical field.
Must have a valid driver license.
Must have ability to understand job specifications, drawings, and corresponding technical references.
Must be able to enter and move through manholes to reach and work internally confined spaces.
Must have regular, reliable attendance.
Desired Qualifications:
Some previous supervisory/mentoring experience (such as make-up supervisor).
Security Requirements:
Must be able to access government facilities and be DBIDS eligible.
Position requires you to obtain and maintain a DBIDS.
Position requires US Citizenship.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs.
Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces, including enter and moving through manholes.
May ride ships at sea for extended periods.
Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
Frequent exposure to noise due to machinery and equipment.
Employee is required to operate trucks, forklifts & man-lifts.
While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl.

Responsibilities Position Summary
As the Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Technician, you will impact PSA Airlines' business growth by conducting aviation repairs and services that allow for operations to be on time. By executing maintenance procedures in compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company standards, you are ensuring safe and reliable flights.
Job Responsibilities
Will perform tasks necessary to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations and accept the responsibility for work performed by themselves and/or in conjunction with others and sign for same on the Company's approved forms.
Keep work areas clean. Return all equipment and tools to assigned areas. A&P Technicians will report all inoperative or faulty equipment to the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Mechanic in charge.
Work will consist of and include any and all phases of repair and maintenance of aircraft with the aid of the employee's own tools, specialty tools provided by the Company, the use of test equipment, and Company-supplied technical manuals.
In certain cases, and A&P Technician may be authorized to perform required inspection items and assist in Company training programs.
Will at the commencement of each repair or inspection initiate the proper documentation. Parts tags will include a complete description of the discrepancy on all removed parts. Determine if the work to be performed is a Required Inspection Item.
Verifying, through proper documentation, that any part installed on any aircraft or component is approved for that aircraft or component and has been visually inspected and is free of damage or contamination.
Assure that hangar workshops and other areas assigned are maintained in an orderly manner.
Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor through the Lead Mechanic.

Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification.

A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraftmechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records, and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

Comply with aircraft records procedures outlined in DA PAM 738-751.
Ensure aircraft discrepancies are properly recorded in accordance with approved maintenance procedures and within the terms of the contract.
Know and understand the functions and requirements of computerized maintenance software.
Perform aircraft recovery missions as necessary.
Perform engine run or taxi operations. Meet requirement to obtain certification within 12 months of employment.
Reads and interprets manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
Shift work may be required; must be willing and able to work any shift and hours assigned.
Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
High School degree or GED equivalent is Required.
A valid (FAA) A&P Certificate is Required; the (A&P) license must show compliance with FAR 65.83, recent experience requirements.
A minimum of Two (2) years' experience as an (FAA) A&P Mechanic is Required; with Two (2) years of hands-on C-12/King Air Mechanic experience preferred, for an entry level AM-1 Mechanic.
AM-2 - Mechanic requires Two (2) years' experience as an (FAA) A&P Mechanic with a minimum of Five (5) years of hands-on C-12/King Air Mechanic experience.
AM-3 Mechanics require a Minimum of Ten (10) years of (FAA) A&P experience, with Thirteen (13) years of hands-on C-12/King Air mechanic experience.
A valid Driver's License is required.
Mechanic Tools are Required; Mechanics must provide their own Tools and Toolbox. Toolbox must be shadowed, each tool to be etched with mechanic PID. (Recruiter will provide tool requirements).
Must be able to obtain a Valid US Passport, in the event OCONUS, overseas travel is requested, to support mission requirements, TDY assignment with aircraft.
Ability to move freely about the interior and in the unpressurized area aft of the aft pressure bulkhead and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.
Must be willing and able to work and/or rotate for a multiple shift operation. (Work shift is subject to change; currently one shift M-F 40 hours a week).
(AR95-20) A&P Mechanic Pre-employment Medical Requirements:
Medical/Physical. All personnel performing engine runs, ground taxi, ordnance loading, or operating self-propelled support equipment within Ten (10) feet of the aircraft silhouette must pass a physical examination from a qualified medical professional prior to conducting these operations, and subsequently on a specified periodic basis, not to exceed Five (5) years.
BMI Body Mass Index below Forty (40) is required.
Security Clearance Requirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Gov Secret Security Clearance is Required; US Citizenship is Required to obtain a US Govt Secret Clearance, and to obtain facility and base access to the job site.
Physical and Additional Qualifications:

Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.
Pull, push, lift up to 50 lbs.

Possesses a valid FAA Aircraft & Powerplant (A&P) license and shows compliance with FAR 65.83, recent experience requirements.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
