You will be responsible for performing minor structural repairs and modifications. Troubleshoot, repair and service aircraft and engine systems. Conduct diagnosis of malfunctions. Perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly or adjustment of various aircraft systems. All within accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. Fabricate, install and test installation, routing, clamping and wiring harnesses. Read wiring diagrams and blueprints. You may receive additional training and be cross utilized into aircraft low observable maintenance to fulfill the daily activities and duties required to meet contract requirements. Low Observable tasks include repair of composite or metallic structures, and sanding, stripping, testing, masking and other preparation tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 6 years of relevant experience in the Aviation and/or Aerospace industry.
Must have an active DoD Top Secret (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by business needs.

Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraftmechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Responsibility: To perform Intermediate level maintenance and modifications on SE, IMRL and aircraft components in the physical custody of Fleet Readiness Center West Detachment China Lake, in support of VX-9 and VX-31 and outlying areas covered under the IMRL program.

In this role you will be working on cutting edge technology utilizing your experience to further the development of new hardware and software, adding new capabilities to airborne sensing and weapons systems, and sustainment of customer fleets including MQ-1C Gray Eagle, MQ-9A Reaper, and MQ-9B SkyGuardian, SeaGuardian, and Protector systems.
Responsible for the entire Unmanned Aircraft System, you will be modifying and configuring aircraft and ground control stations to meet customer specified test programs, executing ground tests, and supporting flight test activities. This includes flightline activities such as preflight, launch and recovery, and postflight data collection.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will service, troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and maintain aircraft and ground support equipment in support of test operations and sustainment activities in accordance with maintenance documentation.
Support test teams for test and development (R&D) efforts.
Performs work on airframe and powerplant in support of test operations and sustainment activities.
Troubleshoot aircraft and engine systems to determine related problems to identify possible solutions.
Develops and reviews new processes and procedures.
Will assist in training efforts for various customers.
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
Inspect powerplant and related components at regular intervals adhering to company approved procedures, maintenance manuals, and/or government technical order requirements.

Position Summary:
This position will be responsible and accountable for providing quality mechanical repairs and maintenance work up to their level of certification, utilizing all resources available within the shop area. Oils and greases equipment
Test drives vehicles to assure proper working order, and delivers vehicles for servicing or refueling
Cleans vehicles, garage area and maintains shop equipment
Disassembles and cleans vehicle parts
Fixes door handles and locking mechanisms.
Diagnoses malfunctions and performs vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions
Diagnoses and repairs electronic controlled equipment components; Fuse blocks, BCM, PCM and ABS systems
Diagnose, maintain, repair and recondition hydraulic systems; diagnose and repair front and rear drive axles, drive train components, belts, gears and chain drives
Trains staff, as directed, in specific task, job practices and procedures of auto/equipment repair to improve and maintains the performance levels of these employees.
May perform moderate supervisory roles when Fleet Manager or Fleet Lead are not accessible.
