Airport engineer job description

An Engineer II is responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the facility in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
What will I be doing?

As an Engineer II, you would be maintaining the guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas in good repair by performing a wide variety of electromechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production related machinery and equipment. This is an experience level in which assignments involve a wide variety of repair and maintenance techniques. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

* Preventive maintenance of hotel equipment and guest rooms. Maintain the physical functionality and safety of the facility including, but not limited to, guest rooms, public space and heart-of-the-house areas.
* Assembles and installs electromechanical equipment such as production machinery and tools, conveyor systems, facility equipment, etc.
* Dismantles, adjust, repairs, and assembles machine tools according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or general instructions.
* Troubleshoots and repairs equipment and systems requiring the isolation of the malfunction, disassembly and repair or replacement of bearings, bushings, gears, valves, switches, relays, ballasts, etc.
* Respond to guest calls and team member work orders in a timely, friendly and efficient manner to assess and repair non-functioning machinery and/or equipment
* Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, HVAC work and masonry
* Conduct inspections for preventive maintenance needs.
* Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention
* Train and assist new hires and give direction to other maintenance personnel (Engineer III) with skilled engineering trades.

• Preparation of plans using Civil3D and AutoCAD software
• Preparation of technical reports for projects
• Construction engineering for airport projects (prior construction experience a plus)
• Assist on multi-discipline projects
• Planning, design, bidding, and construction engineering services on airport and transportation projects
• Preparation of details, specifications, and bidding documents using Microsoft Word
• Preparation of regulatory permits for projects
• Preparation of construction cost estimates
• May perform construction administration duties such as documenting activities, communicating to project managers regarding status and progress of construction, measuring and testing, providing general oversight, and interacting with contractors, sub-contractors, residents and airport Staff.
• Be a part of helping build client relationships, including attending airport commission meetings

Skills & Knowledge / Education & Experience:

• A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering required (transportation/aviation focus preferred)
• Relevant engineering intern experience preferred
• WI EIT certification preferred
• A general knowledge of Civil Engineering design tasks, proficient in AutoCAD and Civil3D, construction inspection tasks, ability to be trained / mentored, positive attitude, self-motivator, any prior airport experience a plus
• Solid written and verbal communication skills required

As part of a design team, the primary responsibilities of the Engineer, Airports are small and large airport infrastructure planning and design, pavement evaluations and designs, site and facilities design, utility system design, and related services. Duties also include generating engineering reports, preparation of project specifications, assembling permit applications (City, County, and State) and providing engineering oversight during construction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS(may include but are not limited to):

+ Assists in the various design elements to complete a project, system, component, or system with other team members with clear and specified objectives involving conventional types of plans, surveys, investigations, structures, and/or equipment.

+ Assists in the preparation of complete project documentation to include plans, specifications, and engineer estimates including the collection, assembling, and organizing of project data.

+ Evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to project assignments; formulates and solves problems with guidance and direction.

+ Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of engineering work; works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects using time efficiently to stay within budget and deliver on time.

+ Assists in the preparation of project scopes, tasks, budgets, and schedules.

+ Assists with proposals including bid documents, project reports, studies, and other documentation.

+ Receives direction on key objectives; receives guidance on unconventional or complex programs, direction on modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria.

+ Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little or no advanced notice.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related Engineering field.

+ 0-2 years' experience.

+ Working knowledge with AutoCAD.

+ Working knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

+ Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS

+ Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and clients.

+ Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision.

+ Ability to maintain confidentially and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.

+ Ability to work calmly and effectively in a high-volume office environment under pressure of heavy deadlines.

+ Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.

LICENSURE

+ Valid drivers' license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.

+ Engineer in Training (EIT), preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

ENVIRONMENT

Work usually takes place in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. Site visits may occasionally take place in an outdoor environment.
