Airport maintenance labour job description

Work will be performed outdoors during the grass cutting season. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather. Work is expected to continue in light rains. Employee should be able to operate hand tools and power equipment for up to 2 hours at a time on uneven and sometimes rough terrain. Employee should be able to move about on outdoor unfinished grounds, lawns, paved/finished surfaces, and inclines up to 45 degrees. Some moderate lifting (<50#) may be required. Work involves frequent bending, stooping, and twisting. Some Saturday work may be required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the requirements of the job with minimal accommodations.
• Must successfully complete a background check and receive favorable pre-employment drug screen results.
• Must be authorized for coverage under agency insurance if operating agency vehicle have and maintain a good driving record required by the company's fleet safety program and a valid Alabama driver's license.

We are seeking an experienced Laborer to work on our asphalt pavement or pavement maintenance crew.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.

· Manual labor including shoveling, brooming and raking.

· Equipment cleanup as needed.

· May be called upon to run small power tools.

· Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.

· Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.

· Occasional equipment operation; including a skid steer or highway broom

· Perform other duties as assigned

· Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty environments.

· Be able to work overtime when required.

· Must have strong work ethic

· Ability to work in a team setting

· Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, contractors and customers in a courteous, professional manner at all times.

Essential Responsibilities:
Perform tasks on the labour crew to support pipeline maintenance operations. These tasks include but are not limited to hand digging of hotlines, removal of existing coating on pipeline, operating sandblasting units, site set-up, setting-up hoarding/fencing, using hand tools, and small machines.Loading and unloading construction materials and equipment for transport to work locations Acting as a spotter for trucks and other heavy equipment Provide general clean up and ongoing monitoring and maintenance of work area Ensures that work is completed within deadlines Must be flexible with duties to support project requirements Qualifications:1-2 years of labour experience (ideally within pipeline maintenance scope) Must be capable of lifting up to 50lbsMust have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing Must have and maintain a class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract Willing to obtain TDG, Defensive Driving, First Aid Level C, and WHMIS certifications Work Conditions:Project based in various locations across Alberta but will meet in Spruce Grove, ABTravel often to support maintenance activities in various locations across Alberta.
