AJM Packaging was founded in 1957 by three brothers from Detroit. The business began as a paper distribution company, and has grown into a leading manufacturer of high quality branded and private label paper products including paper plates, bowls, cups, and bags. AJM dedicates significant resources to their environmental impact program. The paper for their products is sourced from sustainably managed forests, and their paper products are made from 100% renewable resources. AJM has certifications from both the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the Forest Stewardship Council. In addition to the recognition AJM has received for its environmental initiatives, the company has received awards and certifications from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, The United Group, and SER Metro-Detroit. In response to the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, AJM announced that they would be implementing a "Critical Infrastructure Bonus Plan,” providing bonuses to eligible manufacturing employees in the Detroit area. In addition, the company announced that they would be hiring for over 200 new, permanent positions to keep up with increased demand for disposable paper goods, and maintained social distancing during interviews for these positions. AJM Packaging is family-owned and family-run, and still operates the original Detroit manufacturing site along with seven additional plants across the US. The company employs over 3,000 employees and ensures that all of their paper products are manufactured, printed, and packaged in the US.
