    About the Role The Site Assessment and Remediation practice at AKRF delivers value on projects of all scopes and sizes, from individual lots and single-use buildings to large-scale mixed-use developments, corporate and institutional campuses, renewable energy facilities, and infrastructure improvements. We are seeking a mid-level environmental scientist/geologist/engineer to support our growing Site Assessment and Remediation practice in delivering healthier, safer, and more sustainable sites to our deep roster of clients. This position will be based out of our New York City Office. Job Responsibilities: Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Phase II/Subsurface/Remedial Investigations including soil logging and soil, sediment, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor/ambient air sampling. Remediation oversight and community air monitoring related to brownfield redevelopment. This could include, but is not limited to, soil excavation, in-situ groundwater treatment, petroleum or chemical bulk storage removal, and installation of vapor mitigation and/or mechanical remediation systems. Oversight of subcontractors such as drillers, geophysical surveys, excavation companies, and remedial contractors. Operations and Maintenance of SSDS, SVE, and other mechanical remediation systems. Data interpretation, report preparation and writing (Work Plans, Phase II and Remedial Investigation Reports, Remedial Plans, CEQR/SEQRA/NEPA Environmental Assessments, etc.). Remedial design, including SSDS, SVE, and in-situ groundwater treatment. Project Management. Staff Development, mentoring, training, and participation in AKRF and SAR initiatives. Essential Requirements: Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Science. 3-6 years of experience in the environmental assessment and remediation field. New York State experience is a must; New York City experience is preferred. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification. A valid driver's license and being comfortable driving in New York City. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Familiarity with EQuIS, and OSHA 40-hour (30- plus 10-hour) Construction and SST Certification a plus. This position entails some field-related assignments in the NYC-metro area, which requires local travel. Non-field assignments will be conducted both remotely and in the office. Compensation Compensation will range from $72k to $90k, and commensurate with experience. Essential Requirements: An accredited STEM bachelor's degree program or STEM graduate program Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously Initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly Dependability and an eagerness to take ownership of tasks Valid Drivers License Current OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response certification preferred Compensation Compensation will range from $21hr-$29hr, and commensurate with experience.
