Quality Manager Job in Culver, IN
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work within the company policies to manage the quality assurance aspects of current product and new product development and introduction.
Lead team of quality supervisors, auditors, and inspectors in supporting plant performance and objectives including identifying and implementing improvement initiatives in “prevention” activities and reduce Internal and External quality costs.
Coordinate activities associated with development and implementation of quality system elements including operator first piece verification, operator in-process verification, process and product audits, and identification and development/refinement of new or undocumented elements including standard work, CTQ placards, control plans and in-process standards that support corporate standards and specifications.
Address and control non-conformities from internal and external audits or in-process failures.
Provide oversight of the manufacture of products through product and process audits to ensure that engineering documentation and standards are consistent with manufacturing methods used to produce the products.
Initiate, follow-up on, and close pending Preventive and Corrective Action reports including leading/supporting investigation and response by cross functional team members.
Serve as a liaison between Manufacturing, Procurement, and corporate resources.
Monitor and Manage Quality Management System including conducting audits of the Quality Management System.
Lead Plant Quality Planning Meetings; participate in plant steering committee.
Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Management field
At least 3 years in the quality field
Experience with Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 month time span.
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods.
Demonstrated capability in problem analysis and resolution of complex problems.
Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
Experience in ISO9001 based (or equivalent) quality systems.
Experience with formal problem solving techniques (6-Sigma, Shainin Red X Strategies, etc) –certification desired.
Experience with FMEA, APQP processes, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Woodworking, wood case goods or cabinet manufacturing experience preferred.
Finishing experience in the wood industries desired.
Six Sigma Black Belt
Computer Literacy (Excel, Word, and etc…)
ASQ CQA/CQE/CQM Certifications preferred
