The **Patient Services Associate I** answers incoming calls to schedule Radiology appointments and makes outgoing calls to patients and physicians. The majority of time will be spent handling scheduling and pre-registration calls based on business needs. Follows standardized process to get and give information during scheduling/pre-registration calls according to documented work processes. Enters all information into the applicable computer programs and systems. Determines the needs of other callers with a focus on one call resolution and ensures every customer receives the highest quality of customer service.
**Specific duties include, but are not limited to:**
+ Takes incoming calls to schedule Radiology appointments and contacts patients and referring physician offices to schedule appointments.
+ Follows prescribed list of questions/scripts and provides standardized responses to get and give information during scheduling/pre-registration.
+ Ensures the gathering of accurate and complete patient data required to complete the scheduling process and any specific information required by customer facility.
+ Enters all information into the applicable computer system in accordance with documented work processes.
+ Determines customers' needs based on incoming calls, escalates calls as necessary to Patient Services Supervisor or Patient Services Manager as appropriate.
+ Completes any additional job duties as assigned
**Position Requirements:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
+ 6 months+ of medical or related training and/or experience
+ Computer literacy and experience with general office equipment required.

The Radiology Coordinator supervises, coordinates and oversees the daily operations, workflow, customer service and quality control of imaging services within the Urgent Care modality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiography program.
ARRT Certification/Eligible in good standing

Preferred Qualifications
Three to five years experience as Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT, RDMS, NMTCB etc) required.
One to three years leadership experience including coaching and counseling staff, and developing staff schedules.

Core Job Responsibilities
For designated services, this position is responsible for ensuring that each patient account has accurate insurance information entered in the correct billing order and that each insurance listed has been verified as eligible for the designated date of service range. For each insurance, benefit information is obtained and documented. Verification and benefit information can be obtained via electronic or verbal method but must be completed prior to services being rendered. Position must have or develop excellent working rapport with surgeons' office staff, as well as hospital nursing staff.
For pre-scheduled services, this position is responsible for verifying that authorization is on file with each of the appropriate insurance companies and that authorization is accurate based upon location, CPT code, service type, surgeon, date range and any or all other necessary elements to secure payment for services rendered. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Department/Position Overview:
Sentara Leigh Hospital Intensive Care Unit, AACN Gold Beacon Award recipient, is comprised of 20 licensed critical care beds and has an average daily census of 18 patients. Staffing ratios vary and can be 1:1 to 1:3 with 1:2 being the usual assignment.
The ICU RN's are required to have a wide array of knowledge, skill and ability to competently and safely provide critical care to our patients. Frequent ongoing education, new skill acquisition and skill validation are provided and supported by an experienced ICU CNS for new and experienced ICU nurses. Newly hired RN's will have between 2-14 weeks of orientation depending on prior experience. Our preceptors are purposely selected for their teaching ability and formally trained to meet the training needs of new staff. Specific attention is provided for new graduate ICU RN's as they participate in our Vizient AACN Nurse Residency Program and AACN's essentials of Critical Care Orientation online education. Experienced RN's are encouraged and supported with educational and financial assistance to achieve critical care certification.
ICU staff are supported by an interdisciplinary care team which in part includes unit based respiratory, physical, speech and occupational therapists. Interpreter, nutrition, palliative, chaplaincy and ethical services are readily available as well. Our ICU has onsite and eICU pulmonary critical care intensivists and their team of physician extenders 24/7. Physician lead, nurse driven interdisciplinary rounds are held daily for continuity of care and to address nursing's concerns or questions. These rounds are made educational and even fun at times by our very engaged intensivist MD's.

Sentara Albemarle Medical Center , located in Elizabeth City, NC, serves northeastern North Carolina with a caring team of approximately 650 employees and 150 medical providers. We think of each other as family, with those bonds extending into our close-knit community and serving as the foundation for our patient care. Our 182-bed facility features 25 specialties including emergency, maternity, orthopedics, medical, and surgical care in addition to our outpatient laboratory, imaging, and comprehensive breast services. In 2022, Sentara broke ground on a new campus, a state-of-the-art 88-bed hospital to replace the current 60-year-old facility on North Road Street. The 135-acre campus, coming out of the ground at Halstead Boulevard Extended and Thunder Road, will be known as the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus. It is projected to cost about $200 million, up from the original estimate of $158 million, due to sharp spikes in costs for building materials and medical equipment.
