AMICO company history timeline

1940

In 1940, Laborer and Operator were the top reported jobs for men and women in the USA named Amico.

1945

With Axis forces surrendering in 1945, the company’s leadership felt that the WPB would soon grant permission to use the new facilities and begin manufacturing building products again.

1957

Open since 1957, the family run restaurant is known for its slow-fired meats but famous for its rich, rust-colored sauce with a bit of both sweet and heat.

1970

Walk among, under and through steam-powered boilers, blower engines, a water tower and the dark tunnel where workers fed the furnaces. It ceased operations in 1970, and the site – designated a National Historic Landmark – is now a museum operated by the city of Birmingham.

1974

Amico Corporation, founded in 1974, designs, manufactures and markets a broad range of products for virtually every department in the health care facility.

1976

In 1863, the company was coerced into selling the furnace and its operations to the Confederacy, making it notably the only ironworks owned by the Confederate States of America. It sat abandoned until the park was created in 1976.

1982

The year of 1982 saw the development and introduction of STAY-FORM, an American made product used in the concrete-forming industry.

1983

Sloss Furnaces first welcomed visitors to see its two 400-ton furnaces and 40 other buildings in 1983.

After the great video game crash of 1983, although the Intellivision soldiered on in many forms, it largely vanished from the public’s consciousness.

1991

He was granted an area to the east of the harbour where, in 1991, working with his son Alberto, he founded Amico & Co, a new shipyard dedicated exclusively to the repair and refit of large yachts.

2018

In 2018 video game legend Tommy Tallarico announced plans to bring back a re-imagined version of the Intellivision as the Intellivision Amico.
