Alabama Power company history timeline

1906

In 1906, several prominent Alabamians founded the Alabama Power Company with the goal of bringing electricity to residents and catapulting the state into the 20th century.

In 1906 the Alabama Power Company was incorporated by consolidating hydroelectric investments on the Tennessee and Tallapoosa rivers made by Frank Washburn and Charles Baker.

1926

In 1926, Leech wrote a series of comic strips in the Birmingham Post titled “A Love Story of Vulcan and Electra”, narrating a supposed romantic relationship between the two iconic statues.

2002

In 2002 the Alabama Power Company commissioned a book to commemorate its centennial anniversary.
