POST Requirement: Incumbents in this class are required to maintain Continued Professional Training (CPT) in accordance with POST regulations. Criminal History and Background Checks: The County shall access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment for this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors' Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies, and applicable federal and state laws. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate's ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist. The class of Attorney - Criminal has five levels which are assigned at the department head's discretion in accordance with budget provisions, workload, organizational needs, and the individual attorney's expertise and skill, subject to the following basic experience requirements: Level I: This level is assigned to attorneys who have no previous legal experience. Under close supervision, attorneys at this level are generally assigned a variety of less difficult assignments. This is the entry and trainee level for criminal attorneys. Level II: This level is assigned attorneys with at least one year of experience in the practice of law. Under close supervision, attorneys at this level perform work of average difficulty in all phases of criminal law. This is the first working level. Level III: This level is assigned attorneys with at least one year of Sacramento County service as an Attorney - Criminal, Level II, or three years of experience practicing law in the State of California. Environmental Specialist is a single class with two levels: Environmental Specialist (Level II) and Environmental Specialist (Level I). The level at which initial appointments are made and when advancements occur are at the discretion of the appointing authority. Incumbents may advance from Level I to Level II, if they have: (1) met the minimum and special qualifications, and (2) have demonstrated the ability to perform the responsibilities required at the higher performance level. The County of Sacramento's Environmental Management Department consists of two divisions, Environmental Compliance and Environmental Health. Candidates on the eligible list may be considered to fill vacancies in either division.
