4. Assures the establishment and maintenance of the organizational structure of a unit which promotes effective and economic utilization of personnel and supplies; assures availability and operability of supplies and equipment.
5. Communicates regularly with immediate supervisor to report on status of activities, studies, trends, programs, resources, personnel, needs and problems.
6. Contributes to the establishment of Nursing Department goals and objectives and promotes their achievement; interprets and implements charge system as well as policies, procedures, and regulations.
7. Identifies staff with growth potential and makes recommendations to the nursing administration; reviews progress of employees and prepares with others the performance evaluations records and the content of associated guidance sessions; participates in interviewing, evaluating and recommending nursing personnel for employment and promotion.
8. Implements consistently the standards set by State and National regulatory and/or accrediting agencies; monitors the regularity of programs providing for infection control, quality assurance, continuity of care, teaching of patients, and coordination of care with other departments.
9. Makes regular rounds to all patient areas on the unit to evaluate status of patient care, operation and environment of the unit, staff needs and patients' perception Immediately remedies any issues identified.
10. Obtains and incorporates when feasible suggestions and recommendations from staff.
11. Participates in the determination and implementation of patient care and documentation standards and quality assurance program criteria and monitors the documentation of their achievement.
12. Plans and conducts staff development programs pertinent to unit needs and makes recommendations for programs to meet broader needs; contributes to the development of staff performance standards, monitors activities of personnel and evaluates achievement of performance standards.
13. Prepares documentation to support requests for continuing enhancement of nursing capabilities and make budgetary recommendations on personnel, supplies, equipment, remodeling and contracts.
14. Promotes an environment therapeutic for patients, pleasant for personnel and visitors and conducive to ease of communication, to respectful and impartial treatment of employees and patients, and to learning by staff and students.
15. Promotes cordial and productive patterns of communication and relationships with medical staff and inter/intra-departmental personnel.
16. Responds promptly to employee problems and grievances.
17. Responsible for effective bed management and patient flow throughout the house.
18. Reviews priorities of patient care and unit operation and makes adjustment in resources and/or staffing; contributes to adoption of master staffing schedule to unit operation; maintains approved personnel assignments, time allowance and records and personnel policies and procedures.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
Education:Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum Experience:One year full-time, continuous experience as a ClinicalNurse III or three years experience as a ClinicalNurse II with AHS, or four years full-time, continuous experience in a large facility in the clinical area of application. (NOTE: a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a recognized school may be substituted for one year of the required experience.)
Required License/Certifications:CCRN - Critical Care RegisteredNurse is desirable.
Required Licenses/Certifications:ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - issued by AHA -American Heart Association, may be required per facility or unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Expectations:
Responsible for coordination of care to meet identified needs of the patient/family. Supervises the management of patient care utilizing critical thinking and nursing process, discharge planning, resource identification, linking and scheduling patients with required services, monitoring care delivery, advocating for the patient, care planning and evaluating outcomes. Coordinates patient care across the health care continuum, and assists other team members with meeting individual patient needs. This position may require flexibility of hours.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree (BSN) required. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will be considered if enrolled in a BSN program with degree completion within 2 years of date of hire or date of transfer to an RN position. Diploma or transcripts on highest degree earned required.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
Minimum 1 year of current experience in acute care area of expertise/equivalent service area required, 2 years preferred. Completion of an approved Critical Care Core Curriculum program, preferred. Advanced Med/Surg experience with telemetry preferred.
Must challenge and successfully pass the Basic Dysrhythmia course curriculum within 21 days of hire.
Basic computer skills/experience with computerized documentation systems required.

Pay Range: The estimated base rate for this position is $50.38 - $71.95.

May provide oversight to staff who monitor telemetry systems; alerts primary nurse of changes in underlying rhythms and of any life threatening arrhythmias that may develop; interprets and posts telemetry strips at the hours specified; admits and discharges patients with telemetry units as appropriate.
6. Organizes, supervises, makes adjustments and accepts responsibility for the quality of care provided patients by co-workers for a given work period; at the level II assumes responsibility as a team leader or a charge nurse when assigned.
7. Participates in promoting a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patient and families; set up and controls the environment essential for infection control.
8. Participates in the implementation of patient care standards, infection control standards and quality assurance criteria; assist with conducting studies; participates in unit and other meetings.
9. Provides and evaluates patient care established standards and criteria in conformity with the nursing care plan. Monitors patients for significant and critical changes and initiates procedures as required; documents care given according to set standards and at required intervals. Interprets and explains procedures, regimens, and services to patients and families; teaches patients and family members health care and disease prevention techniques. Prepares patients and/or area for procedures and operations; assists physicians; uses instruments and equipment related to the area of assignment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
Minimum Experience: Six months experience as a ClinicalNurse I with AHS or the equivalent of one year full time recent experience at a comparable level in a minimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty; (if experience is not recent, completion of an approved refresher course may be acceptable).
Preferred Licenses/Certifications: TNCC -Trauma Nurse Core Course (For Emergency department only).
Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice as a RegisteredNurse in the State Of California.
Preferred License/Certifications: CCRN - Critical Care RegisteredNurse.
Required Licenses/Certifications: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - issued by AHA - American Heart Association, may be required per facility or unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Acquire certification in chemotherapy within one year of hire (certain positions only).

Pay Range $85.18- $124.86
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
