Alameda Health System is the safety net provider for the diverse and complex patient population of Alameda County. Alameda Hospital is a community hospital with 161 beds and is a designated primary stroke center. This provider will be joining a community of highly trained, driven providers who strive for excellence in our care of underserved patients. We are seeking a highly qualified, organized, efficient, mission-oriented neurologist to join our growing division. The division culture is collaborative and supportive, with weekly case conferences. Ability to perform EMGs and/or read EEGs is strongly preferred but not required.
**DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Outpatient general neurology clinic at the Highland Wellness Clinic (ideally including EMG/NCS clinic)
2. Part-time coverage of inpatient consults at Alameda Hospital, where the typical daily consult census is fewer than 5 patients and acute stroke and other neurologic emergencies are managed by a separate teleneurology service. There is no weekend coverage and no overnight call.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Advanced fellowship training in neuromuscular or neurophysiology preferred (not required).
Board-certified or eligible in Neurology.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.

Pay Range: $177.09 - $187.59 per hour
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. **What You Will Do**
The position is responsible for the medical direction of Authorization Review for Sharp Health Plan (SHP). The Physician Reviewer will perform all reasonably necessary functions to ensure quality of care and appropriate utilization in the most cost-effective, appropriate and professional manner, which meets the expressed needs of patients and professional colleagues.

Opportunity Information Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology - California Pacific Medical Center Department of Psychiatry: The CPMC Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology offers high-quality training to the next generation of health psychologists. We offer five full-time positions. The 12-month training program is a planned, structured, and administered sequence of professionally supervised clinical training that satisfies the California Board of Psychology licensing requirements for post-doctoral training. Fellows specialize in providing psychological services in interdisciplinary medical settings. We work with patients and their families to cope effectively with acute and chronic disease, make lifestyle changes, and address a range of psychosocial problems. Under the direction of experienced clinical supervisors, our fellows provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy, offer evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression and other psychiatric disorders, deliver targeted behavioral interventions, and design lifestyle interventions to promote patient's health and well-being and prevent disease recurrence.
Tracks and Rotations:
Psycho-Oncology Track (12-months). Fellows provide psychological services to cancer patients and their families immediately following diagnosis, throughout active treatment, and during transitions to survivorship or palliative care. We have established collaborations with the Breast Cancer Recovery Program, Chemotherapy Infusion and Radiation Oncology clinics, and Palliative Care clinic to offer services across the entire continuum of care.
Perinatal Mental Health Track (12 months). Working closely with obstetrics specialists, fellows offer a range of psychological services for women and their partners facing challenges with postpartum anxiety and depression, miscarriage, infant loss, and pregnancy termination. Fellows are integrated into our outpatient OG-GYN clinic and inpatient obstetrics units to provide on-site consultation, short-term psychotherapy, targeted behavioral interventions, educational classes, and post-partum support groups.
Behavioral Cardiology Rotation (6-months). Fellows work closely with an interdisciplinary Cardiac Rehabilitation team to improve psychological adjustment and help patients make significant behavioral and lifestyle changes.
Neurogastroenterology Rotation (6-months). Fellows provide psychological assessment and targeted behavioral interventions as part of an interdisciplinary Neurogastroenterology and Motility program focusing on the treatment of functional GI disorders.
Palliative Care Communication Skills Training (4-months). Fellows provide communication skills training to first-year CPMC Internal Medicine Residents as part of their two-week rotation with the Palliative Care Service.
Collaborative Assessment (3-months). Fellows will have the opportunity to incorporate principles of Collaborative Assessment into their assessment practices in order to maximize the therapeutic value to patients.
Supervision Philosophy
A combination of individual and group supervision is provided by our experienced faculty, consisting of 2-3 hours of individual supervision and 2-3 hours of group supervision each week. In addition to meeting with Dr. Jeremy Bornstein, Director of Psychology Training Programs and primary supervisor for the program, fellows are assigned additional supervisors for individual and group supervision, depending their track, the rotation schedule, and individualized training plans.
Training Curriculum
The foundation of our training curriculum is a year-long, weekly Health Psychology Seminar. The Psycho-Oncology Fellows attend a weekly group supervision and case conference with Dr. Atallah, while Women's Mental Health Fellows also attend a weekly seminar and case conference led by Catherine Mallouh, MD. Additional supervision is provided for the various rotations and supplementary classes are offered through the CPMC Department of Psychiatry.

**Summary**
**SUMMARY** : The Neurologist is to diagnose and treat various neurological conditions and overall manage and coordinate patient care throughout treatment.
**DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** : NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Diagnosing and managing patients with Neurologic disorders in both the outpatient and inpatient settings
2. Maintenance and development of clinical programs and patient care delivery model(s) that are consistent with current professional standards and with the mission, vision, and values of the organization with a focus on inpatient neurologic diseases.
3. Participates in committee work for the Division, Department and Hospital
4. Attends Division and monthly Departmental meetings
5. Works with the Chief of Neurology and curriculum committee to develop a curriculum for teaching the Internal Medicine residents.
6. Active role in developing inpatient protocols for management of neurologic emergencies (Stroke, Status Epilepticus etc.)
7. Teaching and supervision of Internal Medicine residents and medical students
8. Providing evaluation of and feedback to trainees
9. Assisting the Residency Leadership team in curriculum development for Neurology
10. Serving as a professional role model for trainees with peers, patients, families and other members of the health care team.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** :
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) is required.
Advanced fellowship training as a neurohospitalist, in neurovascular neurology or in neurocritical care preferred.
Board certified or eligible in Neurology.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
