Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Welder- 2nd Shift to join our team. is $20.00- $31.29 per hour. The core hours are 3:45pm-2:15am Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you'll do: The Welder will perform routine hand-welding or robotic welding on a repetitive and non-repetitive nature on standard and near-standard assemblies. De-burr, grind, and fit components prior to welding. Grind and polish finished elements as required. Block jig or position parts prior to welding. Assist other operators in their work as directed/required. In this function you will: A. Perform work from manufacturing information, bills of material, written and/or oral instructions. B. Utilize manufacturing information, determine necessary parts/inventory, jigs/fixtures, and obtain materials from stock areas. C. Provide assistance to other sheet metal fabricators / operators in performance of their duties as required. D. Deliver material to/from work stations using material handling equipment, position work material on work surface. Ensure correct parts and matching documentation reach next process in a timely fashion. E. Complete necessary preparation work such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components. F. Pick up and place scrap in appropriate containers. Documentation/record keeping may be required. G. Operate spot welders, arc welders, plasma TIG welder, MIG welder, cutting torch, power grinder, power sanders, hand-tools, bandsaws, drills, temporary fixturing devices, jigs and fixtures, and other metal-fabrication equipment as directed. Inspect parts periodically or as directed utilizing manufacturing information such as drawings / blueprints, make necessary adjustments as required. Keep accurate piece count and other applicable records. Inform Supervisor of any quality problems. H. Maintenance of equipment such as dressing of welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and minor adjustments may be necessary. Complete necessary maintenance check sheets and inform Supervisor and / or Maintenance personnel of any problems. I. Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly fashion; keeping oil deposits off of floor. J. Observe all health/hygiene and safety policies as directed and specified. K. Other duties as required. The ideal candidate will have shipboard and industrial welding experience and a strong understanding of various welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW/MIG. A hands-on weld test will be required, which includes Cuni socket and butt weld tests, as well as carbon steel butt welds using 309 filler metal, all performed in a 6G or 6GR position. Key Responsibilities: Perform multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc), and GMAW/MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding) processes. Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel pipes using SMAW and GTAW processes, including fusion inserts and open root welding. Execute mirror welds using SMAW and GTAW processes. Use an oxygen/propane heating torch for pre-heating materials as required. Utilize fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale to ensure accurate measurements and weld quality. Work in physically demanding environments such as shipboard settings, sub-assemblies, ladders, and staging areas. Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations, particularly those relevant to shipbuilding and industrial environments. Qualifications & Skills: Minimum of five years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class pipe welder. Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW/MIG welding techniques. Ability to perform welding in challenging positions (6G/6GR) and environments. Experience with welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel pipe materials. Ability to use precision measuring tools such as fillet gauges, butt gauges, and scales to inspect welds. Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with colleagues on complex projects. Strong commitment to safety practices and knowledge of OSHA regulations in the shipbuilding and industrial sectors.
