Job Summary and Qualifications The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage. The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organizations vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. What you will do in this role: Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication. Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them. Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology. In this role You will provide the best possible preventative, supportive, and rehabilitative nursing care to each patient based upon the nursing process and in accordance with hospital policy and procedure. You will be assigned responsibilities with full patient assignment will be specific to PCU, Medical/Oncology, CVSU, Ortho and Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, primarily to cover sick calls You will provide assessment and planning for individualized patient care. You will respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. You will provide care for the patient in collaboration with the patient/family, with regard to developmental, cultural and age specific differences, develops and implements patient care plans to include problems, goals, evaluations and interventions. You will communicate effectively with physicians regarding patients clinical condition and results of diagnostic studies. You will perform nursing duties as needed in the continuum of care for all patients. You will participate in process improvement efforts and activities for the department. You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure. What qualifications you will need: Registered Nurse State of Alaska Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred.
