AT THE ASSESSMENT CENTER, BRC EVALUATES EACH INDIVIDUAL AND LINKS THEM TO THE HOUSING AND SERVICES THAT BEST MEETS THEIR NEEDS, BOTH IN AND OUTSIDE OF THE SHELTER SYSTEM. OUR ASSESSMENT CENTER MADE 1,242 DIVERSIONS OF CLIENTS OUT OF THE DHS SHELTER SYSTEM IN FY20, INCLUDING 266 PEOPLE WHO WERE PLACED DIRECTLY INTO HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES. CLIENTS AT BRC'S SHELTERS AND THE ASSESSMENT CENTER ALSO HAVE ACCESS TO BRC'S FULLY INTEGRATED HOUSING AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES THROUGH OUR HORIZONS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, WHICH IS HOUSED WITHIN TWO OF BRC'S SHELTERS. IN FY20, HORIZONS SERVED 1,159 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING 514 WHO WERE NEWLY ADMITTED TO THE PROGRAM AND 259 WHO FOUND EMPLOYMENT DURING THE YEAR.
