Job Summary:
Responsible for planning and directing the administrative operations, finance, and business development for all Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Laboratorys within Pathology Services. Provides strategic leadership in developing system wide initiatives to create standardization, centralization, and economies of scale for all inpatient and outpatient/outreach clinical laboratory and pathology services. Ensures the delivery of high quality and fiscally responsible care to patients requiring diagnostic laboratory testing.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Manages and evaluates in a manner that meets continuous quality improvement, customer service, programmatic growth, Federal and State regulations, and Laboratory Accreditation Programs.
Serves as a system consultant to laboratory operational managers, providing guidance and recommendations for leadership and process improvement. Partners with interdepartmental teams and operational managers to create action plans, consistency of policies, practices and maintenance of compliance standards.
Accountable for assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and executing strategies and tactics of the strategic business plan to achieve optimal financial performance, cost efficiency, business growth, quality performance, clinical superiority, and market leadership.
Drives innovative developments for revenue growth through laboratory outreach programs.
Assists in the short and long-term planning of the department including, evaluating all comparative cost studies and approves all vendor contracts and directs all departmental new facility and renovation projects.

Job Summary:
The Director of Surgical Services is a registered professional nurse who provides leadership and management of a specific service line through the application of advanced competencies in communication; job knowledge, professionalism and business skills. This position partners with nursing leadership, hospital vice presidents, medical staff and other departments to create a center of excellence for their specialty service and to meet or exceed the hospital's mission, vision and goals. This leader administers two or more cost centers with a range of 50 to 500 FTEs in a hospital. The Director handles a budget less than 80 million dollars. This Director has responsibility for all perioperative departments including OR, PACU Bays, pre/post-op area, SDS, Endo, etc.
The Director of Surgical Services provides direct leadership for a group of nurse managers and others who comprise their specialty service line. They are a standard bearer and holds leaders and staff accountable for the delivery of safe, quality care and services through effective communication, employment of transformation leadership, managing by walking around, and instilling an accountability-based practice setting. The Director serves as sponsor for performance improvement; inspires others to seek opportunities to grow and improve their performance and successfully applies lean and evidenced based practice to ensure all targets pillar outcomes are achieved. This leader employs all safety-first interventions and as the chief safety officer creates a culture of safety for his/her service line through the development/use of these skills by other leaders, physicians and staff. He/she effectively uses data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility, providing instruction and mentoring for assigned leaders to be able to do the same. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing scientific and clinical direction to the HLA clinical laboratory and reports to a designated member of the SQL/LSA senior leadership team and a Medical Director. This position is responsible for oversight of all licensed and unlicensed personnel in the HLA department and serves as a mentor and assists in the development of HLA Director in Training (DIT) candidates per ACHI. Responsible for providing technical interpretation of results, providing consultations with physicians, overseeing research projects, implementing new assays/assay troubleshooting, quality assurance, and reviewing SOPs. Assumes Clinical Consultant responsibilities and participates on site and system-level committees as assigned/required. This position will hold a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona Department of Pathology.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science.
