The business found money for expansion initially from New Spring Capital, a Pennsylvania-based private equity firm which put $3.5 million into the company in 2008, part of a $5 million co-investment with another group.
In 2010, they collaborated with Disney and launched the Disney Fairy Tale wedding collection.Their designs for the mother of the bride earned its reputation recently.
The firm's managing partner, Stephen Czech, did not return telephone calls seeking comment, but Redmond responded on his behalf, and confirmed that loans of $24 million and $30 million were made by the equity firm to Alfred Angelo since 2011.
Edythe died in 2012 at age 91 in Palm Beach Gardens; her husband predeceased her.
