The Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Bedford and Fulton counties work in partnership with families to build children's and parents' strength, promote self-esteem, and encourage self-sufficiency and lifelong learning. This position will plan, organize, develop and implement a program planning to include individualized activities for each child and family in the home/classroom to ensure that the highest quality services are provided.
Responsibilities:
Ensures that activities, material, etc., are appropriate to the developmental capabilities of each child.
Participates in team meetings and shares relevant information as appropriate.
Greets each child and parent in a warm, friendly manner as they arrive at the center or in home.
Makes provisions for all children with disabilities so that their special needs are met and their well-being is assured.
Utilizes Creative Curriculum and other program resources, ensuring involvement of family members in planning, facilitating, and assessing.
Establishes and maintains an atmosphere that is positive and comfortable for each family, and that facilitates growth and competency, both as individuals and as a family unit.
Uses appropriate techniques, such as modeling, positive reinforcement, direct instruction, and feedback to facilitate positive growth in the parents and children.
Encourages parents to assume an active role in the home visits by modeling and training and then gradually increasing responsibilities in the assessing, planning and implementation of the educational process.
Assists parents to develop realistic expectations of their children and provides activities appropriate for their age and developmental level.
Helps parents to use home materials and activities as positive learning opportunities for their children.
Assists parents to interact with their children in ways which facilitate the development of communication, listening, comprehension, and problem solving skills, as well as mutual trust and esteem.
Encourages parents to participate in program activities and trainings for parents.
Assists parents in developing clear limit setting techniques such as: positive reinforcement, redirection, problem solving, etc.
Offers parents information about community health, human services, and other resources to meet identified goals.
Assists families to obtain any necessary social services.
Guides parents in utilizing their own knowledge, experience, skills and resources to identify their own goals for attaining or strengthening self-sufficiency.
Involves parents in the program encouraging a partnership approach by:

Minimum of an Associate's degree (Bachelor's or advanced degree preferred) in early childhood education or related degree with six classes, 2-3 credits each, in child development or early childhood education.
Experience working with young children.
Must have valid PA. Driver's license. Act 31 and 34/151 and FBI clearances required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

The Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Bedford and Fulton counties work in partnership with families to build children's and parents' strength, promote self-esteem, and encourage self-sufficiency and lifelong learning. This position will provide behavioral support and strategies to help strengthen children's social-emotional skills and improve their ability to learn; support teaching staff in the establishment and maintenance of positive and productive partnerships with families; and help coordinate, develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate behavioral/mental health concerns to ensure the highest degree of quality services are provided to children.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates with the Manager and Life Enrichment Assistants for students with disabilities entering Head Start for smooth transition.
Participates in the transition planning from Early Intervention to IU8 services.
Assists families and PCEs working with children with IFSPs.
Attends PALS and provide PBIS, social emotional information to families.
Assists in planning and participating in Parent Cafes.
Collaborates with the home-based team to participate in home visits.
Plans and facilitates wellness activities and events with families and staff.
Participates in Wellness Wednesday and the Wellness Committee.
Conducts in-home based assessments to support PBIS.

Participates in the interagency organizations and cooperate with all agencies involved with the education and care of young children in Bedford and Fulton Counties. LICC is mandatory in both counties.
Assists in representing ALSM Children's Services through community public relations and marketing events.
Facilitates two-way communication between staff and parents.
Is involved in regular staff meetings with the coordinating teams for the purpose of recognizing and dealing with family and/or child needs. Shares relevant information, as appropriate.
Maintains regular communication with the home-based team concerning the meeting of component objectives, unmet needs of families, potential problem areas, etc., and makes recommendations for improvements or constructive action.
Attends and participates through data reporting etc. in HSAC 2 times per year.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Family Studies and Human Development or Counseling preferred.
Work related experience in a human services setting, including working with low-income children and families, preferred.
Valid Driver's license, Act 33, 34/151 and FBI Clearances.

Assist residents with bath functions as directed. May require verbal cues and minimal assist with dressing tasks during and after baths.
Assist residents with dressing properly and comfortably and undressing as necessary, keeping residents dry. Assist with putting on shoes and socks.
Assist residents with personal care needs including hair care functions, nail care, and oral care.
Assist with room care including laundry collection and light housekeeping.
Transport or accompany residents to and from such activities. Remind personal care residents of appointments as needed, mealtime, activities and when necessary transport or accompany residents to and from such activities.
Check residents routinely to assure that their personal care needs are being met.
Answer call bells and handle emergencies that come up during assigned shift.
Participate in and receive the report upon reporting for duty.
Reports all accidents/incidents and changes in a resident's condition observed on shift.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of personal care experience preferred.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
