Allen Organ company history timeline

1939

In 1939, the Allentown Evening Chronicle referred to him as a '22-year-old Alexander Graham Bell.' During this time, Markowitz moved his basement workshop to an empty section of his father's textile factory.

1941

By 1941, Markowitz had sold three more organs.

1946

By 1946, he had sold ten organs locally, as the Allen organ proved less cumbersome and more affordable than traditional pipe organs.

1948

Established in 1948 as The Beautiful Sound, Allen Organs of Chicago is the oldest keyboard firm in Chicago.

1949

In 1949, his company developed and patented a Gyrophonic Projector.

1953

St Catharine's used the organ until 1953, when they moved to a new cathedral.

By 1953, the company was back on track and earning a profit.

1966

1966: Rocky Mount Instruments is acquired.

1969

In 1969, Allen Organ Company partnered with North American Rockwell on a project that went on to change the world of music.

1970

In 1970, right before the completion of an acceptable the prototype, Deutsch approached Markowitz about expanding the partnership to include the development of a smaller organ.

1989

Allen Integrated Assemblies, a division of Allen Organ Company LLC, started in 1989 as a full service electronic and electro-mechanical contract manufacturer.

1990

1990: Founder's son Steven Markowitz inherits leadership of the company.

2000

In February 2000, the company's stock soared to $82 per share, up 26 percent, on rumors that Allen Organ intended to jettison its Eastern Research data communications subsidiary.

2015

Relocated in 2015 to our new facility in Bolingbrook, Illinois, the showroom is a 3,200 square foot facility which includes the showroom/recital room, concert and artist services, warehousing, two teaching studios, service department and corporate offices.
