Alliance Co company history timeline

1990

1990 - the Alliance establishes its Regional Office for the Americas in San José, Costa Rica.

1991

1991 December 7 – Aviators’ Jet is installed at Alliance High School.

1992

Trinity Capital had been formed two years earlier as a shell company without any assets until a public offering in May 1992 yielded the company its sole asset: cash.

1992 - The Alliance begins a decentralisation process and establishes four regions: Africa, Americas, Asia and the Pacific, and Europe.

1993

The company spent $20.2 million in September 1993 to purchase Titus Oaks Distributors, Inc. and in November 1993 merged with Trinity Capital Opportunity Corp.

1994

On the acquisition front, in February 1994 Alliance Entertainment purchased Abbey Road Distributors, a one-stop music wholesaler.

The company's fifth year of business was not spent celebrating the financial results achieved in 1994, however.

1995

1995 - The Alliance adopts revised Co-operative Principles and Values and adds a seventh principle, "Concern for Community".

1998

By 1998, Alliance sold 15.1 million tons of coal and was recognized as the sixth largest coal producer in the eastern United States.

1999

During 1999, Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. was formed, and after completion of its initial public offering as the coal industry's first publicly traded master limited partnership, acquired the coal operations of Alliance Coal Corporation.

2000

ARLP began a $30 million extension of its Pattiki mine in southern Illinois during 2000.

2001

2001 – Haines House museum opens.

2001 – Morgan Engineering and former Alliance Steel fire.

Construction of a new mine shaft and ancillary facilities began in 2001 at the Dotiki mining complex.

2001 - The United Nations adopts Guidelines aimed at creating a supportive environment for the development of co-operatives.

2002

2002 - The Alliance adopts ILO Recommendation on the Promotion of Cooperatives, 2002 (R.193). Further information available here.

2003

Both of these projects were completed during the second quarter of 2003 and positioned ARLP to meet increasing demand for its coal.

2003 - The Alliance adopts new Rules and Standing Orders at its General Assembly in Oslo (Norway).

2004

2004 August 23 – Alliance Memory website is launched by Rodman Public Library showcasing the first online digital collection of photographs, documents, interviews, and objects pertaining to Alliance history.

2007

2007 – Rodman Public Library renovation is completed.

2008

2008 – Mount Union graduate Pierre Garcon is drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 6th round (205th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

2009

2009 - The Alliance elects its first woman President, Dame Pauline Green.

2010

2010 June 10 – Cat Fanciers’ Museum opens in the former Midland-Buckeye Bank building on the corner of Main Street and Arch Avenue.

2011

2011 – Mount Union graduate Cecil Shorts is drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 4th round (114th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

2012

2012 – Alliance Wholesalers and PTC Alliance fire.

2012 - United Nations International Year of Co-operatives

2017

2017 February 1 – The Alliance Review is sold by Dix Communications to GateHouse Media.
