JS Held's Accident Reconstruction practice is seeking an Accident Reconstruction Engineer. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong interest in accident reconstruction, as well as a foundation of experience in expert witness testimony. In addition to their core engineering work, candidates will be responsible for developing business opportunities with current and prospective clients, mentoring and training junior engineers, and occasionally participating in informative presentations for clients and peers.
Candidates should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced and collaborative consulting environment which requires a high degree of self-motivation, professionalism, organization, responsiveness, and resilience to stress. Willingness to grow into a testifying expert/role is also highly preferred.
Job Responsibilities
Manage accident reconstruction projects and clients.
Conduct unbiased field investigations and testing of incidents and/or loss events.
Provide technical findings, analysis, and conclusions, either verbally or in writing, in a timely fashion and in laymen's terms.
Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities.
Travel for inspections, field work, marketing, and business development.
Maintain communication with client and project team on status and scope of assigned projects.
Maintain technical and professional knowledge related to the engineer's practice area(s) through attending continuing education courses and workshops, attending industry/practice related seminars, reviewing relevant scientific and professional publications, and participating in professional organizations and societies.
Continuously meet or exceed assigned performance metrics and goals.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering field is preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of post-academic industry engineering experience preferred.
ACTAR certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
Foundation of testifying experience preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in technical reports is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attitude to deliver results. Experience managing teams is preferred.
Mathematically and technologically inclined with the ability to adapt to new environments or scenarios quickly.
Skilled with software and technical systems.

Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in construction management, related field, or equivalent experience.
Prior experience in a Project Engineer or Field Engineer role.
Have a basic understanding of construction means and methods.
Proficiency with Sage Timberline Estimating, ConstructConnect, BuildingConnected, Bluebeam, and MS suite.
Prior experience with project information management software. CMiC, Procore, Autodesk, and ASTA scheduling experience a plus.
Candidates must have acceptable Motor Vehicle record and be able to pass a background check per company policy.
Current driver's license which has been valid for the past 12 consecutive months.
Work Environment: This is a full-time in-person role based in our Denver, Colorado office.

About the role:
The Engineer assists project staff in the coordination and management of activities on assigned projects.
Essential Functions:
Manage the project stormwater SWMP program, including installation and maintenance of BMPs, routine inspections, documentation of field reports, closing out reports from 3rd party audits.
Participate in trainings and career development opportunities offered by the company.
Document, maintain, and close-out the project outstanding work and issues list through the life of the project.
Utilize equipment and software required for project 360-degree photos documentation.
Administer the QAQC program field activities such as First Work in Place reports, quality spot checks / follow-up inspections, correction of 3rd party inspection report corrections, and other similar activities.
Updating the project As-Builts.
RFI coordination and creation.
Assembly and review of submittals and shop drawings.
Take comprehensive and organized notes in owner and subcontractor meetings and distribute to team members in a timely fashion.
Responsible for managing the closeout process in a timely and efficient manner, including Operation & Maintenance Manuals, project permit closeout with the local AHJ and management of the punch list process.
Communicate with subcontractors, including soliciting pricing requests for added/changed scope, with oversight from the PM.
Assist the project team with: Maintaining a clean and orderly jobsite; Promote and enforce the Zero Accident Safety Culture; CPM schedule updates; Attend required meetings; Support Carpenters and Laborers; Coordination and field direction provided to Subcontractors.
Pay application review.
Subcontract change order management.
Complete estimating takeoffs and quantity verifications.
