Applies general proficiency and basic judgement across SCADA and communications systems to handle a variety of assignments independently and as part of a team.
Primary Functions:
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair various types of communications and fiber optic equipment in underground and overhead environments, including but not limited to ADSS (All Dielectric Self Support), OPGW(Optical Ground Wire), and Microduct;
Perform fiber splicing and fiber termination, both fusion and fast-connects(mechanical)
Install, analyze, and troubleshoot networks including but not limited to Local Area networks, Wide area networks, WIFI, Synchronous Optical Networking, Multiprotocol label switching, Microwave Systems, and Radio Frequency systems;
Install and troubleshoot Communications Equipment/Software including but not limited to UPS systems, Battery chargers, SNMP trap servers, Serial port servers, Radios, Radio consoles, Call recorders, and GPS Irig clocks; understand alarming and identifying causes of failures in Communications/Electronic equipment;
Install, configure, troubleshoot SCADA systems/software including but not limited to Intelligent electronic devices (IED), Substation automation servers, Remote terminal units, Human machine interfaces, Real time automation controllers, and Programmable logic controllers; configure switches to interface with IED's;
Maintain proper documentation of equipment and work performed in the field;
May provide work and technical guidance to others;
Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Requirements:

Education/ Certification/Years of Experience Requirements:

Associates of Science degree or completed military or civilian technical school in electronics, computer engineering technology, or similar technology related field or equivalent experience (preferred)
Must possess or be able to obtain a FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License or equivalent within 6 months
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with air brake endorsement within 6 months

Section 1 - Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of supervisor, this individual will provide technical support for all users of the NTMWD LAN system. Maintain adequate knowledge of existing hardware and software in use to maximize efficiency of the network and resolve problems swiftly. Assist users with support requests from an end-to-end perspective.
Section 2 - Major Responsibilities
Provide computer/network support relating to software and hardware problems reported by users. This will include support for high-level executives, including Directors and their Deputies, as well as appointed Board members.
Support monthly Board of Directors and Committee meetings, including A/V setup and management as well as individual system support.
Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating system and application software being used to provide high levels of support.
In-depth troubleshooting ability, often in high pressure environments and with short time requirements.
Install and troubleshoot new software applications and hardware on the LAN as directed by the Information Technology Supervisor.
Assemble, configure and maintain client, server and related hardware.
Add and maintain users on the network; assigning application access, and ensuring security. Ensure that user records are kept up-to-date in Active Directory.
Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions.
Gather bid prices on equipment and supplies as needed.
Repair and replacement of network hardware as directed.
Carry out other duties as may be assigned or requested.
Section 3 - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
General knowledge of IT-related equipment to include desktop and notebook PCs, LAN and WAN connectivity and topology, network and desktop printers, IP telephony, wiring and cabling, and A/V electronics.
Ability to administer and configure badge security systems and video surveillance equipment.
