Key Position Details:
Tier 1: 2+ years of RN experience in an acute care setting required: plus ortho/medical/surgical experience required within past five years
Tier 2: Minimum of one year RN experience required; plus ortho/medical/surgical experience preferred
Tier 3: Up to one year RN experience or new graduate
0.6 FTE (48-hours per two-week pay period)
8-hour evening shifts
Every other weekend
Position works in Elective orthopedics, spine surgeries and orthopedic trauma.
Required to float to a GI/GU unit on occasion
Job Description:
Nursing is the assessment and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient's care needs.
Practices primarily on hospital units and care for patients that are acutely ill across a wide variety of medical issues and support recovery from surgery.
Principle Responsibilities
Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
Fulfills all organizational requirements.

◦ Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines.
Preceptor (only when acting in this role).
◦ Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee.

Pay Range: $42.92 to $71.47 per hour The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.

Job Summary
Facilitates a lifelong, proactive partnership with patients to enhance and personalize management of health-related needs. The Care Manager assesses needs, plans, coordinates, and evaluates services of patients with the goal of equipping and empowering individuals and their families to easily access resources and adopt healthy lifestyles that will increase their ability to remain in the most appropriate care setting. Care Managers focus on five primary areas: 1) population management, 2) patient self-management support, 3) transitions in care, 4) resource connection, and 5) appropriate resource utilization. Essential Functions
Utilizes RN process as a framework to focus the activities of the healthcare team on the achievement of optimal outcomes, resource utilization, clinical expertise, and improvement strategies.
Interacts with patients, professionals, and the community to achieve continuity of care, coordination of services and to document plans of care across multiple care settings.
Conducts or participates in comprehensive “all-system” needs assessment for identified patients; knowledgeable of appropriate care-related services to match identified needs disease management for health maintenance, and appropriate clinical goal expectations/outcomes for identified population.
Develops and maintains accurate case records of each referred customer/patient.
Documents fully and accurately; knowledgeable of and utilizes accurate computer databases and documentation systems.
Maintains knowledge of various reimbursement criteria and documentation necessary for reimbursement, including Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care.
Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice of nursing evaluating his or her own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statues, rules and regulations.
Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, lifting, reaching, bending, and stooping. Must lift a minimum of thirty-five pounds' shoulder high. Ability to travel/drive between various locations is required for this position. Requires frequent verbal and written communication in English. Must have intact sense of sight and hearing, finger dexterity, critical thinking, and ability to concentrate. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in assignments. Occasional intermittent noise and exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, and chemicals.
Education, Experience and Certifications
BSN required. Masters preferred. Allina Health is hiring nursing interns to work with their assigned RN preceptor to provide care that is whole person, patient centered, collaborative in nature and exceptional in quality. We have one streamlined application to be considered for all internships within the Allina system. It is a paid, ten-week, immersive experience for students currently enrolled in a baccalaureate RN program to be completed the summer prior to graduation. Our internship is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world hands-on nursing experience, increase confidence, enhance skills and receive preference for employment upon graduation!

Work Schedule:
* 0.8 FTE (64 hours in a 2-week pay period)

* Shift, shift length and weekend agreement will vary based on preceptor - must be available to work: days, evenings, nights, 8s, 12s as well as rotating shifts
* Your specific work schedule will be known May 2026 when you are matched with your preceptor

* Enrollment in an accredited nursing program
* Baccalaureate graduation date of December 2026 or May 2027
* Enrollment and active participation in a nursing internship course through a Minnesota university
* This is a pre-licensure program (licensed RNs are not eligible)
* BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required by completion of orientation

Pay Range
Flat Rate: $23.00 per hour
* This position is paid on a standard non-negotiable hourly rate. Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
