We are looking for outgoing, friendly, energetic, and family oriented people to join our ski shop team at our High Adventure by Alpin Haus location in Latham, NY! If you have an active lifestyle, love the outdoors and like to work with people, this job is for you! The Ski Technician mounts bindings, sharpens edges, and performs tuning and maintenance services on skis and snowboards. This position also assists customers in the retail store throughout their shopping experience.
Salary: $18-$25/hour
Schedule: Part time - Must be available afternoons and weekends
Job Duties:
Use machines to sharpen edges of skis and snowboards; perform base waxing and tune ups, maintenance, and repairs on ski equipment
Adjust and mount bindings on new and used skis according to skier's weight and ability
Consult with customers needing services, provide recommendations, and answer questions using own technical expertise
Review and update work orders and details, customer concerns, and any related information relative to work performed
Provide buyer/customer assistance in all areas of the retail store as needed, to ensure a friendly, positive, and professional shopping experience
Maintain cleanliness of work area by performing light housekeeping duties throughout the workday
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Previous work experience in a Ski Shop
Enthusiasm for skiing and/or snowboarding
Capable of obtaining current ski binding manufacturer certifications upon hire
Weekend and evening work required

Physical and Environmental Conditions

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently, to move objects.
Light exposure to fumes, oils and lubricating fluids, and mechanical moving parts, but not to the extent of being undesirable.

Key Job Responsibilities
Perform routine proactive maintenance.
Troubleshoot industrial equipment, mechanisms, mechanical systems and electrical circuits.
Perform service, maintenance, repair and installation on Commercial Doors, Loading Docks and general warehouse equipment.
Provide information and recommend services to the Sales team.
Manage work orders (paper and digital) for each job in a timely manner.
Perform hazard assessments and maintain a high standard of safe work practices and quality control.
Follow company and OSHA safety rules and guidelines. Avoid injuries and damage to property, loss of unused materials and clean-up of work area debris.
Complete all necessary company training in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Expensive experience with High-Speed Doors. Manufacturers include: Rytec; Dynaco, Hormann, Rite-Hite and Wayne Dalton.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of: Warehouse and/or Commercial doors; Loading Docks Equipment; Dock-Leveler's; Bumpers; Shelters; Truck Restraints; and other related warehouse equipment.
Extensive experience with electrical and low voltage and the ability to read electrical schematics.
Desirable is someone with experience in welding and fabrication.
Working background in Mechanical, Commercial, and Industrial Maintenance.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, technology driven, service environment.
Follows all safety procedures in performing work, as well as company policies.
Able to work without supervision. Occasionally, will work in a team environment.
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs and across remote offices.
Complete service reports, time-cards and parts ordering.
Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Technical school training and OEM certification is a plus. Examples of training would include: AAADM; Rytec; Entrematic; etc.
Must have schedule flexibility, as services may be performed during evenings, weekends or holidays (most normal shifts M-F, 7:00a - 5:00p).
Ability to work overtime.
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Must have a current and valid state issued Driver's License with a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
Must be able to pass a standard Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Key Job Responsibilities
Perform routine proactive maintenance.
Troubleshoot industrial equipment, mechanisms, mechanical systems and electrical circuits.
Perform service, maintenance, repair and installation on Commercial Doors, Loading Docks and general warehouse equipment.
Provide information and recommend services to the Sales team.
Manage work orders (paper and digital) for each job in a timely manner.
Perform hazard assessments and maintain a high standard of safe work practices and quality control.
Follow company and OSHA safety rules and guidelines. Avoid injuries and damage to property, loss of unused materials and clean-up of work area debris.
Complete all necessary company training in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
Expensive experience with High-Speed Doors. Manufacturers include: Rytec; Dynaco, Hormann, Rite-Hite and Wayne Dalton.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of: Warehouse and/or Commercial doors; Loading Docks Equipment; Dock-Leveler's; Bumpers; Shelters; Truck Restraints; and other related warehouse equipment.
Extensive experience with electrical and low voltage and the ability to read electrical schematics.
Desirable is someone with experience in welding and fabrication.
Working background in Mechanical, Commercial, and Industrial Maintenance.
Ability to thrive in a fast paced, technology driven, service environment.
Follows all safety procedures in performing work, as well as company policies.
Able to work without supervision. Occasionally, will work in a team environment.
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs and across remote offices.
Complete service reports, time-cards and parts ordering.
Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
Technical school training and OEM certification is a plus. Examples of training would include: AAADM; Rytec; Entrematic; etc.
Must have schedule flexibility, as services may be performed during evenings, weekends or holidays (most normal shifts M-F, 7:00a - 5:00p).
Ability to work overtime.
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Must have a current and valid state issued Driver's License with a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
Must be able to pass a standard Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.

Apprentice Level (Level I) - best for candidates who have a passion for learning and a willingness to train. Experience working in any related field is a plus, but most importantly an understanding of mechanics and the ability to fix a variety of products is needed.
Service Professional Level (Level II) - this is the sweet spot for anyone who has at least a year of experience in a related field and knowledge of the basic concepts of electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting. Service professionals are well attuned to customers and can communicate effectively while in the field.
Senior Level (Level III) - possesses experience in basic repairs in the AED, Highspeed, or gate fields with a proficient understanding of hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting. Candidates will typically have 4 years of experience in this field.
Expert Level (Level IV) - are the masters of their craft, skilled in electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting with a mechanical mindset, leadership skills and extensive knowledge in dock leveler and door repairs. Candidates will possess at least 8 years of experience.

What You'll Do
Service Professionals are responsible for hands-on customer care. They troubleshoot, service, inspect, install, and repair industrial equipment of all shapes and sizes. The role operates a vehicle regularly to visit different customer sites and plays a major part in maintaining safety and OSHA compliance for the Company.

Ability to repair industrial facilities, including doors, loading docks, and dock-leveler's.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE: As an Installation Technician in our Service Department, you will play a vital role in the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of custom equipment packages. This hand-on position requires a diverse skill set including welding, fabrication, 12V electrical, hydraulics, and mechanical assembly and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Perform a variety of installation-related tasks under supervision, including routine work, troubleshooting, light maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
Ensure installation work meets customer specifications and company standards on a daily basis.
Utilize a range of technical skills including welding, fabrication, 12V electrical, hydraulics, assembly, and diagnostics.
Operate tools and equipment such as hand plasma cutters, cutting torches, overhead cranes, power tools, and more.
Remove old equipment and install new systems, including cutting, drilling, welding, and repositioning components on customer vehicles.
Diagnose and repair issues related to hydraulic systems, 12V electrical components, valves, and cylinders.

Enter warranty findings and resolutions into the CAPA database for Tech Services.
May assist in truck programming; training will be provided as needed.
Organize work to ensure installations are completed efficiently and on time.
Maintain proper inventory and supply levels to support installation efficiency.
Follow all safety standards and perform preventative maintenance to reduce repair costs.
Communicate effectively with customers during service visits to understand and resolve issues.

Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership
Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
