ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operate production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include lathes, grinders, mills, and similar equipment. Produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances. Measure finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications. Maintain logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces. Inspect equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance. Maintain a safe work environment to make certain MIOSHA safety rules and regulations are followed. Must be able to read a measuring tape. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in order to count, weigh, and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet. Perform production assignments as directed by supervisor. Must have effective communication skills in order to: read work orders or instructions to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances; and to comprehend or carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Consult with quality assurance and inspect work pieces throughout the production floor to identify out of tolerance machining.
