Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Service Administrator to cover our Crane and Paver Segments. This role can sit out of either our Jackson, MI or Byron Center, MI branches. This position will ensure the work order process is being managed and completed in an efficient and accurate manner. The goals are to assist the service manager throughout the workday and take care of our customer and technician needs. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:
Provide support to the service manager.
Obtain purchase order (PO) number from the customer if the customer's protocol is to give out PO's.
Input technician job repair write ups located in our business system. This will be done daily on all jobs that are completed and in process.
Prepare all work orders ready to close for the service manager to review once the job is completed.
Have all work orders closed when job is completed.
Responsible for all time entries and payroll for the shop and field technicians. All payroll must be approved by the service manager prior to submission.
Periodically will call customer to provide updates or obtain additional information from them.
Follow up with other inter-company departments on open issues.
Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time.
Qualifications
Previous billing and customer service experience is highly preferred.
Must have strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Previous ERP experience is a plus.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of coworkers, as well as customers.
Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Picks orders which are to be delivered by commercial trucker based on customer order and completes required documentation. Prepares pulled orders and places in holding area for truck pick up.

Loads and unloads truck shipments received through Distribution. Follows proper procedure to handle deliveries in order to facilitate entry into Harris inventory system. Warehouses received materials and finished product in proper Manufacturing or Distribution areas, recording location on appropriate documentation.

Selects and measures raw materials and parts to specifications to prepare for production processing.
Performs reworking and machining of new and spare production parts for departments.
Repairs maintenance parts as needed.
Verifies the accuracy of work by using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and various measuring instruments.
Order and maintain project related material as required.
Assist with keeping neat and orderly records on work performed and repairs made.

Our construction equipment group is seeking a full-time heavy equipment field service diesel technician / mechanic for our Jackson, Michigan branch. This is a union position and will be part of Operating Engineers Local 324. A Field Technician 2 must be familiar with and able to diagnose and repair any systems problem that occurs for the majority (greater than 50%) of equipment the Company sells. A Field Technician 2 is qualified to successfully, efficiently, and accurately perform the cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, removal, installation with the help of proper manuals, report writing and the disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, reconditioning, ordering the correct parts, measuring, adjusting, diagnosing, testing, troubleshooting and equipment failure analysis of their assigned Service department or specialized area, with minimal technical assistance. Also, a Field Technician 2 may be asked to perform minor welding, fabricating, and machining repairs. A Field Technician 2 must become Volvo Level 3 certified. A Field Technician 2 will be required to maintain a Chauffeurs or CDL B endorsement on their driver license and a clean driving record in accordance with the Company's insurance carrier's requirements. Must be able to meet or exceed quoted labor for repairs related to this level, with minimal rework.
