The incumbent may work independently at times or under the direct supervision of the physician, Department Coordinator, or Director of Clinical Operations. Depending upon their nature, difficult or unusual problems can be referred to the Department Coordinator, Director of Clinical Operations or the physician.
Accountability: The incumbent is accountable for all care that he/she renders to the patient or should have rendered to the patient. The incumbent must follow the physician's instructions explicitly when providing care of any kind to patients. The incumbent is responsible for dealing with patients in a friendly and cooperative manner. The incumbent must make accurate decisions regarding the potential severity of problems telephoned to him/her by patients, and must consult the physician in a timely fashion regarding those problems. The incumbent is required to use supplies and materials only as needed to avoid wasting supplies and materials. The incumbent is also required to see if other departments can use supplies not yet used that are close to expiration. The CMA/RMA may work independently at times or under the direct supervision of the physician, nurse practitioner, clinical lead or practice manager. Depending upon their nature, difficult or unusual problems can be referred to the clinical lead, nurse practitioner, the physician or the practice manager.
Accountability: The CMA/RMA is accountable for all care that he/she renders to the patient or should have rendered to the patient and the chart documentation. The CMA/RMA must follow the physician's instructions explicitly when providing care of any kind to patients. The CMA/RMA is responsible for dealing with patients in a friendly and cooperative manner. The CMA/RMA must make accurate decisions regarding the potential severity of problems telephoned to him/her by patients and must consult the physician in a timely fashion regarding those problems. The CMA/RMA is required to use supplies and materials only as needed to avoid wasting supplies and materials. The CMA/RMA is also required to see if other departments can use supplies not yet used that are close to expiration. The outpatient/ambulatory nurse is an integral part of patient care.

Assist with follow-up calls to patients to relay test results, and survey patient's regarding their visit.

Collects data to include vital signs, height, weight, current accurate medication list, and all pertinent information needed for the Urgent Care Providers to assess the patient.
Perform phlebotomy, according to policy.
Administers oral, IM, SQ medications as directed by the Urgent Care Providers.
Apply dressings and perform other treatments under the direction of the Urgent Care Providers.
Assists Urgent Care Providers with patient exams and procedures.
Performs in house testing when applicable: flu, strep, urinalysis, urine HCG, and glucose testing. Collects and labels specimens correctly according to policy
Prioritizes daily tasks.
Exhibits flexibility with willingness to work any schedule as indicated.
Performs quality controls daily, if applicable.
Provides appropriate documentation in patient's chart.
Reinforces/facilitates education.
Notifies appropriate personnel immediately of abnormal test results.
Completes annual required competency and education.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Return phone calls to patients by the end of the business day.

Restock and clean exam rooms after use according to protocol.
Uses the EHR to accurately document and inform physicians of patient interactions and may also be required to scribe.

Maintains confidentiality of information obtained while performing duties.
Job Requirements
Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting Program.
