To join our team as an Energy Technician! This is an entry level position where you will work alongside team members and learn how to install energy efficiency measures to reduce home energy bills for residential customers.
No prior experience needed. We provide on-the-job training where you will learn how to:
Install energy savings measures including attic insulation (batts and blown), caulking, lightbulbs, showerheads, baseboards, thermostats and electric water heaters
Perform minor repairs to include windows and doors
Assist with loading and unloading work trucks
Assist with keeping the job site organized and safe
Assist with job site set up and tear down
Physical Demands/Requirements
Able to work in different weather conditions including extreme hot and cold weather
Sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
Crawl, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or reach often working in crawl spaces and under mobile homes for part of the workday
Use repetitive hand motion & use of basic hand and power tools
Use of a ladder at various heights (up to 3 stories)
Lift, carry or push up to 50 pounds as needed

About MORPC's Weatherization Program
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) provides energy efficiency services to income-eligible households through programs like HWAP and WarmChoice. These services help reduce energy bills, improve home comfort and safety, and support environmental equity across Central Ohio.
Position Summary
The Energy Auditor plays a vital role in assessing residential homes for energy efficiency improvements. This position involves daily travel to client residences across Franklin County and occasional trips to home improvement retailers for supplies. All driving is conducted in MORPC-provided vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive energy audits of residential homes, including blower door testing, combustion safety testing, and insulation assessments.
Identify and recommend weatherization measures such as air sealing, insulation, and HVAC upgrades.
Educate residents on energy-saving practices and safety improvements.
Document findings and prepare reports using MORPC's data systems.
Coordinate with contractors, field technicians, and inspection staff to ensure timely and quality service delivery.

Job Overview
This role will build upon the energy program established in other jurisdictions. This individual will work directly and indirectly with property managers, board members, and building staff in Virginia, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and North Carolina to advise on many aspects relates to reducing energy consumption, utility costs, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Serve as a regional subject matter expert for energy and climate related questions.
* Analyze building utility price structure and consumption data (electricity, natural gas, water) for trends and anomalies.
* Perform building walk-throughs as needed, recommend energy and water efficiency upgrades and low-cost/no-cost operational improvements.
* Prepare building energy reports with estimated savings, implementation strategies, and return-on-investment.
* Attend board meetings as required (often at night and in-person) to explain and pitch energy offerings.
* Create target lists of buildings based on energy spend or usage and propose services to generate savings.
* Develop high ROI/prescriptive measure programs for the region that will help drive energy reduction.
* Represent and present on behalf of FirstService Energy at industry related events.
* Maintain relationships with vendors, municipalities, local NGOs to support energy project implementation.
Skills and qualifications:
* Hold one or more energy-related certifications: CEM, EBCP, CBCP, LEED O&M.
* Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Sustainability, or another related field.
* 10+ years' experience working in building science, sustainability, energy auditing/consulting.
* Very familiar with basic and advanced building mechanical systems used in multifamily buildings (boilers, chillers, cooling towers, PTACs, thermal and DHW distribution systems, BAS, Heat Pumps, Distributed Generation).
* Able to travel to buildings in the region as needed to conduct fieldwork and attend meetings.
* Able to work in person out of our Fairfax, Virginia office 3 days per week. The other 2 days the associate will have the option to work remotely (based on performance).

Position Summary
The Energy Auditor plays a vital role in assessing residential homes for energy efficiency improvements. This position involves daily travel to client residences across Franklin County and occasional trips to home improvement retailers for supplies. All driving is conducted in MORPC-provided vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive energy audits of residential homes, including blower door testing, combustion safety testing, and insulation assessments.
Identify and recommend weatherization measures such as air sealing, insulation, and HVAC upgrades.
Educate residents on energy-saving practices and safety improvements.
Document findings and prepare reports using MORPCs data systems.
