Responsibilities: · Study and review laboratory operating manual and become familiar with quality assurance, quality control, safety procedures and operating guidelines for performing laboratory services. · Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies and document all quality control activities. · Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, reporting and maintaining records of patient results. · Initially, perform laboratory services under supervision to gain proficiency. Subsequently perform laboratory procedures independently in an efficient and reliable manner. · Identify problems that may adversely affect procedure performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify a laboratory supervisor or laboratory director. · Monitor and participate in laboratory proficiency testing programs. · Conduct CAP and CLIA inspections. · Attend laboratory meetings as requested. · Attend continuing education programs as required for certification or requested by directors.
